J-U-B Engineers seeks a Project Designer (EIT) to support surface water and stormwater projects across the Inland Northwest and Intermountain West. In this role you will assist with hydrologic and hydraulic analysis, modeling, and design of conveyance, detention, and water quality facilities. Duties include CAD drafting, preparing plans, reports, and calculations, supporting permitting, and limited field work. You will work closely with senior engineers and project managers in a collaborative, employee-owned environment that emphasizes mentorship, technical excellence, and long-term career growth.
Responsibilities
- Support planning and design of surface water and stormwater infrastructure for public and private clients
- Prepare hydrologic and hydraulic analyses, reports, and design calculations under senior engineer direction
- Assist with CAD drafting, modeling, and preparation of construction drawings and specifications
- Conduct data collection, research, and technical studies to support water resources projects
- Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and clients to meet scope, budget, and schedule goals
- Help develop permit applications and technical documents for regulatory agencies
- Participate in field visits, site assessments, and construction support activities as needed
- Contribute to quality control processes and adherence to company design standards
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across offices in the Inland Northwest and Intermountain West
- Pursue EIT/FE-related professional development and support continuous improvement of design tools and methods
Required Skills
- Hydrologic and hydraulic modeling (e.g., HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, SWMM, or similar)
- Civil/site and stormwater design
- Auto
- CAD/Civil 3
- D drafting
- Drainage and surface water system design
- Technical report writing and documentation
- Engineering calculations and analysis
- GIS for water resources applications
- Understanding of stormwater regulations and permitting
- Construction plan preparation and detailing
- Data analysis and spreadsheet skills (e.g., Excel)
