The mission matters. So do the people behind it. With advancing defense technology at our core, what sets us apart is a culture of collaboration, purpose, and impact. Space is a critical domain, connecting our technologies, our security and our humanity. While others view space as a destination, we see it as a realm of possibilities, where we can do more—we can innovate, invest, inspire and integrate our capabilities to transform the future.

The Event & Protocol Specialist will provide comprehensive protocol and event-management support to the Lockheed Martin Space Protocol team, alternating between lead and support roles for VIP meetings, events, ceremonies, conferences, and launch activities. Responsibilities include researching and selecting venues, coordinating event set-up, breakdown, and logistics, preparing name-tags and table tents, and developing registration websites, while routinely interacting with internal and external senior executives, scheduling and courteously receiving visitors, and managing expense reports.

The specialist must coordinate with campus security and be comfortable driving VIPs on restricted-access campuses, as well as arranging hotel accommodations, air and ground transportation, passport and visa clearances, and other travel logistics for domestic and international events. The role also encompasses supporting internal and external business-related social functions such as luncheons, symposiums, banquets, exhibit participation, mission events, and VIP briefings, providing communication, facilities, and customer-entertainment support as needed.

Candidates should have proven experience in event planning or executive protocol, strong interpersonal and organizational skills, the ability to work evenings, weekends, and travel as required, and familiarity with security clearance procedures. This role requires attention to detail, and a proactive approach to ensuring successful business relations and seamless event execution. This position does not support teleworking; the preferred candidate will be located near our Lockheed Martin Space facility one of the Coolest places to work:
Denver, Colorado, and be expected to work in the office.

To be effective, you will need to possess these basic qualifications:

  • 5+ years of professional experience in protocol and/or event management.
  • Ability to travel within the United States and overseas and work evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Demonstrated professional experience leading events, and ability to act in a supporting role when others are the lead.
  • You will need to be a US Citizen, and be able to obtain and maintain a US DoD TOP SECRET clearance, to support this government contract, as well as successfully pass a drug and background check, in order to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.

To be effective, ideally, you should also have:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in a related discipline (ideally, event management).
  • 6 years of professional experience; or 4 years of professional experience with a related Master's degree.
  • Experience planning and coordinating official visits to include tours, and meeting room management.
  • Possess a strong teamwork-minded approach to daily operations.
  • Computer skills, including the use of Ipads and (but not limited to) Microsoft Office Suite, Air Table, and Cvent.
  • Ability to provide and execute immediate contingency planning.
  • Ability to work independently, as well as to ask for direction from management, as needed.
  • Creative in event planning and gift selection.
  • Fiscally responsible with budget management.
  • Ability to perform with Operational Excellence in mind.
