Century Group is in search of an experienced Senior Accountant to join a team in Houston, TX area. Qualified candidates with 5+ years of accounting experience are encouraged to apply. Local candidates only. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location. Expected starting base salary $85,000 to $115,000 per year.
Job Description:
- Generate and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring that they are accurate and compliant with GAAP standards.
- Conduct comprehensive reconciliations of accounts, such as bank statements, balance sheets, and general ledger entries.
- Contribute to the creation of financial budgets and forecasts, providing insights and analysis based on financial performance.
- Use Viewpoint software to monitor and manage job costing, including tracking project expenditures, identifying discrepancies, and ensuring proper distribution of costs.
- Conduct in-depth financial analysis on active projects, assessing profitability, cost trends, and overall financial health.
- Work closely with project managers and other departments to oversee project budgets, cost control, and revenue recognition processes.
- Oversee the closing procedures at the end of each month and year, ensuring that all financial transactions are recorded accurately.
- Prepare and post journal entries, including accruals, prepaids, and necessary adjustments to maintain the integrity of the general ledger.
- Collaborate with the accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll teams to ensure all financial data is accounted for on schedule.
- Ensure adherence to all relevant federal, state, and local tax requirements, such as sales, use, and income taxes.
- Assist in the design and implementation of internal control procedures to protect company assets and ensure financial accuracy.
- Aid in preparing for external audits by gathering relevant documentation and addressing auditor queries.
- Utilize Viewpoint software to improve financial workflows, ensuring both data accuracy and operational efficiency.
- Identify opportunities for process optimization and implement improvements to enhance the efficiency and reliability of accounting operations.
- Provide training and ongoing support to junior accounting staff and team members, helping them effectively use accounting systems and understand processes
- A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- CPA certification is preferred but not mandatory.
- At least 5 years of accounting experience, with a particular focus on construction-related financial management.
- Expertise in using Viewpoint software is required.
- Strong knowledge of construction accounting principles, including job costing, revenue recognition, and WIP (Work in Progress) reporting.
