SummaryThe Chief Financial Officer plays a crucial role in advising the Board of Directors and Chief Executive Officer on financial strategies, planning, and management to achieve their business and financial objectives. This role works closely with the stakeholders, board members, and staff of St Vincent Health. The Chief Financial Officer is always looking for strategic ways to create processes, procedures, workflows, and structure to scale the CFO line of business.
The role sits on the senior leadership team at St Vincent Health and has an integral role in growing the company in alignment with the company’s short-term and long-term vision.
- Financial Strategy and Planning:
- Develop and implement financial strategies to support St Vincent Health’s business objectives.
- Advise clients on long-term business and financial planning.
- Evaluate and manage risk, investments, and cash flow for St Vincent Health.
- Consulting and Advisory:
- Provide expert advice on financial matters to senior management and executive teams.
- Assist clients in developing and implementing effective financial policies and procedures.
- Conduct financial health assessments and recommend improvement strategies.
- Budgeting and Forecasting:
- Lead client through budgeting, including preparing, reviewing, and analyzing budgets.
- Provide accurate financial forecasting and reporting to clients.
- Financial Analysis and Reporting:
- Prepare financial statements, reports, and analysis to provide insights into client business performance.
- Conduct variance analysis and recommend corrective actions to clients.
- Cost Management:
- Identify cost‑saving opportunities and improve cost‑efficiency for clients.
- Monitor and control clients' financial performance against budgets and forecasts.
- Compliance and
Risk Management:- Ensure clients comply with financial regulations and standards.
- Develop and implement internal controls to safeguard clients' assets.
- Capital Management:
- Advise clients on capital structure and financing options.
- Manage relationships with investors, banks, and financial institutions on behalf of clients.
- Operational Efficiency:
- Improve financial processes and systems to enhance efficiency and accuracy for clients.
- Implement best practices in financial management and operations for clients.
- Stakeholder Engagement:
- Communicate clients' financial performance and strategy to stakeholders, including executives, board members, and shareholders.
- Collaborate with other departments to support clients' overall business strategy.
- EHR Strategy and Planning:
- Advise clients on implementing and optimizing Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems.
- Develop strategies to integrate EHR with other business processes.
- Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and standards related to EHR.
- Revenue Cycle Strategy and Planning:
- Develop and implement strategies to optimize the revenue cycle management process.
- Provide guidance on billing, coding, and reimbursement processes.
- Identify opportunities to improve revenue capture and reduce billing errors.
- Tax Strategy and Planning:
- Develop and implement tax strategies to support clients' business objectives.
- Advising clients on long‑term tax planning.
- Evaluate and manage risk, investments, and tax implications for clients.
- Tax Team Leadership Advisement and Support:
- Provides guidance, support, and training as needed to maintain high performance and morale.
- Masters degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or other related field.
- CPA or EP is preferred.
- Proven experience as a CFO, financial consultant, or similar financial management role.
- Strong knowledge of corporate financial law, risk management practices, cost reporting, and rural healthcare.
- Critical Access Hospital experience strongly preferred.
- Excellent knowledge of data analysis and forecasting methods.
- Proficient in the use of MS Office and financial management software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Quick Books).
- In‑depth understanding of cash flow management, bank reconciliation, and bookkeeping.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results orientation.
- Demonstrated ability to consult and advise senior management and executive teams effectively.
- Experience with Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems and healthcare revenue cycle management.
- Knowledge of healthcare regulations and standards related to EHR and revenue cycle management.
