POSITION SUMMARY:
Assists the Treasurer with collecting, tracking and distributing monies received by the Treasurer’s Office
- Collects and balances tax payments, processes redemptions, certifies and tracks Certificates of Taxes due and issues checks for over payments and redemptions
- Assists with preparation and support for the yearly Tax Lien Sale
- Balances monies receipted and disbursed monthly. Maintains spreadsheet of credit card reports.
- Generates miscellaneous cash receipts from entities and customers
- Assists customers, answers telephone and e-mail and disseminates information
- Assumes the duties of Clerk if position is open.
- Notifies taxpayers of current taxes and delinquencies.
- Receipts over the counter citation payments as necessary
- Generates Tax Lien sales advertising lists for publication
- Mails or hand delivers payroll and payables checks
- Processes Treasurer’s Deeds at the request of the Chief Deputy
- Maintains written General Ledger and generates semiannual reports
- Maintains records, setting up new year files and destroying files not required to keep according to State Archives List – notifies State Archives of files destroyed
- Updates the departmental website
- Knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word
- Operation of computer, keyboard, mouse, 10-Key calculator, telephone, copier and other standard office equipment
- Ability to learn and successfully use specialized software applications
- Ability to perform mathematical computations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages and fractions quickly and accurately
- Detail oriented, professional manner and reliable
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with a variety of individuals
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and security of department records
- Ability to exercise discretion and good judgment
- Display perseverance when faced with unexpected obstacles
Any combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.
- High School Diploma. Advanced education preferred
- One year of experience in the Treasurer’s Office or related field
- Must be bondable
- Valid Colorado Driver’s License
While performing the essential functions of the job, the employee is frequently required to sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, speak and hear, see at close vision and bend to file and maintain files.
Work Environment:- Work is performed in a normal office environment
- Attend seminars or training in or out of county
