Job Summary and Qualifications

Position Summary:

The Central Sterile Lead Technician will demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to oversee and direct the daily operations of the Central Sterile department when the Supervisor is not present. The Central Sterile Lead Technician will be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to perform work processes of the department including decontamination, processing, sterilization and distribution of instruments, trays and supplies to the Operating Room and other Patient Care Departments in the hospital.

The Central Sterile Lead Technician is experienced in all aspects of steam and chemical sterilization. The Central Sterile Lead Technician may rotate to other than his/her normally assigned department and will perform only those duties for which he/she has demonstrated competency. The Central Sterile Lead Technician performs delegated duties consistent with his/her scope of practice.

II. Position Requirements:

A. Licensure/Certification/Registration:
Central Sterile certification required.

B.

Education:

Central Sterile Certification preferred.

C.

Experience:

5 years experience as a Central Sterile Technician/OR Technologist.

D. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
