Monument Fire District (MFD) is establishing an eligibility list for entry‑level firefighters and Firefighter/Paramedics.

The number of vacancies may increase based on the approved 2027 budget.

Employment will begin on January 14th, 2027, and will include a paid 16‑week fire academy, Monday‑Friday.

Steps to Apply:
  • Meet the minimum qualifications
  • Sign up and pass an online, virtual written test
  • Complete the PST Personal History Statement (PHS)
  • Upload all required documentation to PST
  • All steps must be completed by August 14, 2026

The PST written exam score must be dated between August 13, 2025, and August 14, 2026.

Applicants must possess a valid CPAT certification dated between August 13, 2025, and August 14, 2026.

Oral board interviews are scheduled for the week of September 21.

Monument Fire District – Entry‑Level Firefighter/Paramedic Requirements
  • Written Examination – required
  • Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT) – required; a current, valid CPAT certificate dated between August 14, 2025, and August 14, 2026 (valid at time of interview) is necessary
  • PST Personal History Statement – due by August 14, 2026
  • Minimum age – 18
  • High School graduate or GED – required
  • Driver's license – must obtain a valid Colorado driver's license within three (3) months of hire
  • English language proficiency – ability to read, speak, and write English – required
  • Proof of citizenship or legal eligibility to work in the United States – required
  • Military or Naval Service Preference – 5 preference points may be awarded to candidates with at least one (1) year of active service or reserve duty; DD‑214 (long form, including type of discharge) required as proof
  • Paramedic Certification – State of Colorado Paramedic or National Registry Paramedic willing to obtain State of Colorado Paramedic
  • CPR Card – current BLS level CPR card (American Heart Association, Health Industry Services, or Red Cross accepted)

The District accepts CPAT certificates from any testing organization licensed through the IAFF. Below are a few local testing organizations:
