Pagosa Springs Medical Center – Pagosa Springs, Colorado Position Summary Pagosa Springs Medical Center (PSMC) is seeking a skilled Medical Laboratory Scientist / Medical Technologist to join our laboratory team on the night shift.

This position performs complex laboratory testing and analysis in multiple laboratory disciplines including hematology, chemistry, microbiology, serology, blood bank, coagulation, urinalysis, and phlebotomy. The technologist ensures accurate diagnostic testing, maintains laboratory instrumentation, and performs quality control procedures to support high-quality patient care.

The ideal candidate is a strong laboratory generalist who is comfortable working independently and prioritizing urgent testing in a hospital environment.

Key Responsibilities Laboratory Testing & Analysis Perform routine and specialized laboratory tests as ordered by physicians or healthcare providers

Conduct testing in areas including hematology, chemistry, microbiology, serology, blood bank, coagulation, urinalysis, and phlebotomy

Evaluate and verify laboratory test results and report critical values according to established procedures

Process patient specimens while maintaining specimen integrity and quality

Quality Control & Compliance Perform and document quality control testing

Participate in laboratory proficiency testing and quality improvement activities

Follow laboratory policies, regulatory requirements, and infection control standards

Maintain accurate laboratory documentation and reporting

Equipment Maintenance & Troubleshooting Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on laboratory instrumentation

Identify equipment issues and take appropriate corrective action

Maintain adequate inventory of reagents and supplies

Patient & Staff Support Perform specimen collection and phlebotomy when required

Assist providers and hospital departments with laboratory requests

Educate patients regarding specimen collection when appropriate

Support training and orientation of new laboratory personnel
