Pagosa Springs Medical Center – Pagosa Springs, Colorado Position Summary Pagosa Springs Medical Center (PSMC) is seeking a skilled Ultrasound Technologist to join our Diagnostic Imaging team on a PRN basis.

The Ultrasound Technologist performs diagnostic sonographic examinations as ordered by healthcare providers to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of patients. This role involves selecting appropriate transducers, performing high-quality imaging procedures, assisting physicians with procedures such as biopsies and aspirations, and ensuring patient comfort and safety throughout the examination process.

The ideal candidate is an experienced sonographer who can work independently, demonstrate strong technical and patient care skills, and collaborate effectively with radiologists and healthcare teams.

Key Responsibilities Diagnostic Imaging Perform diagnostic ultrasound examinations according to provider orders and departmental protocols

Select appropriate transducers and scanning techniques based on the anatomy and exam type Identify anatomical structures and evaluate images for technical quality

Assist physicians with ultrasound-guided procedures including biopsies and aspirations

Patient Care Prepare and position patients for ultrasound examinations

Monitor patient safety and comfort during procedures

Assess patient condition and respond appropriately to patient needs

Communicate clearly with patients and families regarding procedures

Quality & Compliance Ensure accurate patient identification and documentation in the electronic health record

Maintain compliance with imaging protocols and safety standards

Perform equipment quality control procedures according to manufacturer guidelines

Maintain ultrasound equipment and ensure proper functionality

Team Collaboration Communicate effectively with radiologists and referring providers regarding exam findings

Assist with coordination of care across departments

Participate in cross-training and support diagnostic imaging team operations

Education

High school diploma or equivalent required

Graduate of an approved ARRT program

Completion of a Sonography and Vascular Technology program

Experience

Minimum three (3) years of ultrasound experience preferred

Licensure & CertificationsARRT certification in Radiography OR Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (ARDMS)
Current AHA BLS certification for healthcare providers

Preferred CertificationsARDMS OB/GYN certificationARDMS Abdomen certification

Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) certification

Skills

Strong sonographic imaging and patient positioning skills

Ability to differentiate normal and pathological findings during examinations

Excellent communication and patient care abilities
