As a CNA (Client Care Aide II) you will provide basic hands-on patient/resident care in a safe, clean, infection controlled environment by bathing, dressing, grooming, hygiene, skin care, range of motion, positioning, ambulating, transferring, toileting programs, feeding programs, transporting, performing basic assessments (vital signs, blood pressures, weights, etc.), and charting/documenting all of the above. This is a fully operational position responsible for performing the full range of client care aide tasks and problem-solving.
Job duties include, but are not limited to:
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, feeding, toileting, and mobility/transferring.
- Perform and record basic clinical tasks such as vital signs, weights, and intake/output measurements.
- Document daily care, observations, and clinical data in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and participate in shift-to-shift reporting.
- Utilize universal precautions, proper lifting techniques, and safety equipment (e.g., transfer belts and lifts) to maintain a secure environment.
- Guide and encourage residents in self-care activities and engage them socially to enhance their overall well-being.
- Explain care steps to residents before and during interactions, and promptly answer call lights.
- Work with the interdisciplinary team to recommend adjustments to routines, schedules, and dietary needs.
- Act as a guide and mentor to newly hired Client Care Aides during their orientation and training period.
- Attend mandatory training, online courses, and staff meetings to stay compliant with state laws, VA regulations, and facility policies
- Other duties as assigned
Special
Qualifications:
- Must hold and maintain an active CNA certification in good standing from the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies, as well as a current BLS Healthcare Provider Card.
Education/Licensure/Certification/
Experience:
- High school diploma or General Educational Diploma (GED)
- One (1) year of experience in an occupational field related to the work assigned to the position
Substitutions:
- Current, valid certification as a Nurse Aide (CNA) from the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies will substitute for the high school diploma or GED
- Current, valid licensure as a Practical Nurse (LPN) from the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies or any state participating in the Nurse Licensure Compact will substitute for the experience requirement
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in a long-term care environment
- Experience working with veterans or patients who suffer from PTSD
- Experience working with patients with dementia
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
