Therapist (Residential)
Job Summary:
The Residential Therapist at Ava Health plays a crucial role in providing compassionate, evidence-based care for individuals in a structured inpatient setting. This position focuses on supporting clients through intensive therapeutic interventions, ensuring a trauma-informed approach to healing. The therapist conducts assessments, facilitates individual and group therapy, collaborates with interdisciplinary teams, and assists clients in developing the skills necessary for long-term recovery.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Provide individual, group, and family therapy sessions, using evidence-based modalities tailored to client needs.
- Conduct comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments and treatment planning.
- Work closely with medical and case management staff to ensure continuity of care.
- Facilitate psycho educational groups on topics such as trauma, relapse prevention, and emotional regulation.
- Maintain timely and thorough documentation in compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards.
- Support discharge planning and post-residential treatment transition plans.
Qualifications:
- Education & Licensure:
Master’s degree in counseling, social work, psychology, or a related field. Must hold a valid state license (LPC, LCSW, LMFT). - Experience:
2+ years in a residential or inpatient setting, with a focus on substance use or mental health treatment. - Skills &
Competencies:- Commitment to Ava Health’s core values of Agency, Service, and Purpose.
- Strong therapeutic skills in trauma-informed care, CBT, DBT, and motivational interviewing.
- Ability to navigate crisis situations with professionalism and care.
- High proficiency in using electronic medical records.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
- Client retention and successful transition to lower levels of care.
- Completion of treatment goals as measured through progress notes and discharge plans.
- Compliance with documentation and regulatory standards.
Physical Demands & Work Environment:
- Primarily office-based with direct client interactions in a residential facility.
- Ability to work some evening or weekend hours based on client needs.
Additional Requirements:
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and maintaining licensure and certifications.
- If in recovery, a minimum of 2 years of sobriety is required.
