JOB SUMMARY

The MRI and X-Ray Technician operates Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and X-Ray scanners to demonstrate portions of the human body with high-quality radiographic images for diagnostic purposes and also maintains and uses equipment and supplies necessary to demonstrate portions of the human body with high-quality radiographic images for diagnostic purposes.

This is a PRN position with opportunities in Edwards, Frisco, and Vail, CO.

THE DETAILS OF THE JOB

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Interviews patients to explain specific radiologic procedures and ensure patient safety.
  • Positions patient on examining table and set up and adjust equipment to obtain optimum view of specific body area as requested by radiologist. Use patient-shielding techniques to minimize radiation exposure to patients and staff. Monitor patient safety and comfort.
  • Views images to assess quality of images, rejecting and repeating work that does not meet established standards.
  • Ability to identify when confidentiality, discretion and judgment are needed, and exhibit these traits appropriately.
  • Understands and maintains records of patients examined, examinations performed, patient medical histories, views taken, or technical factors used.
  • Assist physician in obtaining exams to view in patient rooms, as needed.
  • Coordinate imaging activities such as burning or uploading compact disc (CD) or using Powershare.
  • Able to operate and understand PACS (Digital Picture Archiving Communications Systems).
  • Meet the Company’s expectations as described in the VSON Policies and Practices.
  • Operate Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) scanners to perform MRI imaging/scans; maintain communication with patient to monitor safety and comfort during imaging.
  • Inspect images to ensure quality. Provide imaging to the facility in desired format laid out by Radiologists; routes MRI reports to appropriate physician including outside physicians.
  • Test and calibrate magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) equipment to ensure proper functioning and performance in accordance with specifications; troubleshoot technical issues.
  • Conduct screening interviews of patients to identify contraindications; perform insurance pre-certifications for scans and radiology orders; obtain patient benefit information and notify patient of liability.
  • Maintain a clean and safe MRI environment which complies with all ACR policy updates, signage and staff education.
  • Maintain ACR accreditation, technical competency through continuing medical education, and current permits to practice in all states in which services are performed.
  • Meet the Company’s expectations as described in the VSON Policies and Practices.
  • Maintain confidentiality of Personal Identifiable Information (PII) in accordance with company Policies and State and Federal laws, including OHSA and HIPAA regulations.
  • Perform job in accordance with all company safety practices.
  • Other duties as assigned.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND CONDITIONS

This job operates in a medical office environment where frequent exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medicinal preparations and other conditions common to a clinic environment may exist.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but can occasionally be loud due to volume of physicians and patients in the office.

Work may be stressful eraction with others is constant and may be interruptive. Contact involves dealing with injured people who may be angry or upset with their situation.
