This PRN opportunity is ideal for an experienced hospital pharmacist with oncology infusion experience who can provide flexible coverage while supporting medication management, sterile compounding, Pyxis operations, and multidisciplinary patient care.

Position Summary Pagosa Springs Medical Center (PSMC) is seeking an experienced PRN Staff Pharmacist to join our Pharmacy team on an as-needed basis.

The Staff Pharmacist supports the safe and effective procurement, receipt, storage, preparation, distribution, and use of medications throughout the organization. Responsibilities include medication order verification, clinical medication management, drug interaction and laboratory review, IV preparation, Pyxis management, medication distribution, and supervision of pharmacy technician work.

This position requires hospital pharmacy experience and oncology infusion experience and works closely with physicians, nurses, pharmacy technicians, and other healthcare professionals to ensure medication therapy is accurate, appropriate, timely, and compliant with state and federal requirements.

Key Responsibilities Clinical Pharmacy & Medication Management Review and verify medication orders, including oncology infusion orders

Evaluate medication therapy for appropriate drug selection, dosing, indications, interactions, contraindications, and patient-specific considerations

Review patient profiles, laboratory results, and clinical information to identify and prevent medication-related problems

Identify potential adverse drug reactions, drug interactions, inappropriate dosing, untreated indications, therapeutic failures, and other medication-related concerns

Provide accurate, safe, timely, and appropriate medication therapy based on patient age and disease state

Communicate with physicians, nurses, and other providers to clarify medication orders and resolve clinical concerns

Provide medication information and clinical pharmacy support to providers and nursing staff

Oncology & Sterile Compounding Review and verify medication orders for oncology infusions

Safely handle, store, prepare, and distribute hazardous medications

Follow appropriate clean room procedures, including proper gowning and garbing

Utilize proper aseptic technique during parenteral compounding

Prepare hazardous and non-hazardous medications using Laminar Airflow Workbenches and Biological Safety Cabinets Maintain required pharmacy cleaning and temperature logs Perform applicable quality control functions

Medication Distribution & Pharmacy Operations Participate in central dispensing and pharmacy operational programs

Order and receive medications appropriately
