Night Auditor

Purpose of Position:
Night Auditors greet and register guests, provide outstanding guest service during their stay, and settle the guest's account upon completion of their stay. Primary responsibilities include completing night audit reports, balancing house and credit card accounts, and completing settlements. The role also involves registering guests, managing reservations, and performing concierge duties to maximize room revenue and occupancy.

- Run audit reports per checklist.
- Process no-shows according to policy.
- Conduct security walks a minimum of 4 times per shift.
- Set up lobby coffee service and breakfast if applicable.
- Multi-task, be detail-oriented, and problem-solve effectively with internal and external customers.
- Handle and resolve guest complaints professionally and courteously, using effective listening and clarifying skills.
- Communicate clearly, conveying information and ideas.
- Perform basic math and understand financial information.
- Recognize and act on safety or loss‑prevention incidents, implementing company policies for safety and security.
- Complete all mandatory security, alcohol, and health and safety training, keeping OSHA, State, and Federal guidelines in mind.
- Coordinate with other departments to keep room status up‑to‑date and ensure timely repairs.
- Use persuasive selling techniques to sell rooms and promote marketing programs.
- Carry out front desk responsibilities: greeting guests, processing transactions, balancing reports, cash control, deposits, reservations, credit cards, phone system, TDD equipment, shift logbook, and basic office equipment.
- Schedule wake‑up calls according to property procedures.
- Understand hotel policies on cancellation, extended stay, room types and rates, late check‑outs, early arrivals, and special requests.
- Responsible for key control: issuing and receiving room and master keys.
- Process lost and found items according to policy.
- Operate computer equipment, including Microsoft Office suite.
- Assist in training new staff.
- Participate in and support a positive work environment.
- Understand hotel products and services (food & beverage, recreation).
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
- Communicate professionally with hotel staff, guests, and management.
- Know the surrounding area and events.
- Practice proper telephone etiquette.
- Understand and adhere to cash and credit card handling policies.
- Read, write, and speak English.
- Learn safety, emergency, and accident prevention policies.
- Mange a neat, well‑groomed appearance, wearing the proper uniform and name tag.
- Work a flexible schedule, including weekends, evenings, and holidays.
- Complete night audit training within the acceptable timeframe.
- Follow and submit daily checklist per property procedures.
- Maintain high quality, service, and cleanliness; keep guest survey scores in an acceptable range.
- Maintain smooth front‑desk operation.
- Communicate openly with direct supervisor.
- High school education.
- One year of hospitality or guest service experience (preferred).
- Detail‑oriented.
Complete night audit training program within the brand’s required time frame.
Marginal Job Functions- Clean guestrooms, lobby, and public areas as needed.
- Restock front‑desk supplies.
- Help with laundry, as needed.
- Deliver cribs, towels, or other items to guestrooms as requested.
- Perform light maintenance duties.
- Restock, inventory, and sell guest marketplace and pub if applicable.
- Stand, walk, and use hands and fingers for long periods (up to 8 hours).
- Repeat same movements frequently, including keyboarding.
- Understand speech and speak clearly.
- Read and see details.
- Lift up to 10 pounds occasionally; lift up to 35 pounds from time to time.
- Stoop, kneel, twist, or crouch occasionally.
