Position: MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN - SHOP - Henderson, CO
Location: Henderson

Summary of Position:

Performs basic repairs on tractors and trailers. Assists the Maintenance Technician II and Maintenance Technician III positions with repairs and troubleshooting.

Job Description

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • 1 year or less at Liberty or of related industry experience.
  • Basic understanding of engines, transmissions and their theories.
  • Can perform PM services with little to no instruction.
  • Must possess basic tool set.
  • Possesses general knowledge of electrical circuits.

Training & Cross-Training:

  • All training must be signed off by appropriate leadership before a progression test can be given. Coworker referral must score at least 25 out of 30.
  • A progression test will be given after 6 months of service and requires a score of 90% to pass.
  • Requires guidance and training to complete advanced tasks.
  • Current Liberty employees: must not have received any write-ups within the past year.

Training Courses:

  • New Hire Origination and PEC Training
  • Hydraulic Training Course
  • Air Brake Training Course
  • Wheel Bearing Training Course
  • Employees can attend the training courses and receive a certificate of completion at the end of each course. Courses are scheduled throughout the year and tracked on a progression form.

Cross‑Training – Parts Department:

Required 2 days of cross‑training in the Parts Department to learn part ordering, issuing and processing. Must be completed within the first month of employment and signed off by Maintenance and Parts Manager.

Primary Responsibilities
  • MUST FOLLOW ALL SAFETY REGULATIONS AND STANDARDS.
  • Explain differences in PM schedules.
  • Explain fluid types for engines, transmissions, power ends, drive boxes, small engines and their capacities.
  • Identify all greasing points included in PM service for trailer mounted units and tractors.
  • Know how to properly check u‑joints and identify if they need replacement.
  • Basic equipment knowledge: battery disconnect switches, correct power up/down procedures, starting procedures.
  • Engage power take off on a tractor properly.
  • Key points on hydraulic systems and failure prevention.
  • Check fluid levels after PM and identify which components are checked while running and in a no‑run state.
  • Identify all Liberty equipment by name.
  • Understand unit mounted tools use in PM service.
  • Complete all required paperwork.
  • Understand manual gauges and correct readings per equipment type.
  • Use a multimeter to check voltage and resistance on electrical systems.

Salary

$17–$40/hr (may vary based on qualifications, skills, experience).
