Job Title: Substitute Custodian

Department: Custodial

Reports to: Head Custodian and Director of Maintenance

Salary: $17.00/ hour

Bayfield School District is looking for a substitute custodian to provide students with a safe, attractive, comfortable, clean, and efficient place in which to learn, play, and develop. Bayfield is located in the mountains of Southwest Colorado with access to outdoor activities and partnerships with local colleges.

• High School Diploma or G.E.D.
• Demonstrates aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities.
• Submit fingerprints for a criminal background check.
• Completed and submitted BSD online application.

• Shovel, plow, and sand walks, driveways, parking areas, and steps as appropriate.
• Check that all exit doors are open and all panic bolts are working properly during occupancy.
• Sweep/vacuum classrooms and dust furniture.
• Disinfect and clean toilets, floors, sanitary fixtures, drinking fountains, and restock supplies.
• Perform yard care when directed.
• Keep floors clean and in good condition.
• Promptly report major repairs to the Head Custodian.
• Remain on school premises unless permission to leave is authorized by Head Custodian and/or Building Principal.
• Report damage to school property to the Principal.
• Move furniture or equipment within buildings as directed by the Building Principal.
• Dispose of trash and waste per local laws and procedures.
• Participate in training updates as directed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Regularly stand and walk; use hands to handle, feel, or control objects, tools, or equipment; speak and hear. Reaching with hands and arms; occasionally sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Vision: close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception;
Hearing: ability to hear the difference between bells, buzzers, beeps, horns, etc.

Work indoors and outdoors; drive a vehicle and district equipment. Noise level is usually moderate but can be loud.
