THIS IS A TEMPORARY POSITION (9 MONTHS OR LESS) - PAYING $18.50- $19.50 PER HOUR.

Description of Job

This Posting is for both LEAD and GENERAL Watercraft Inspector & Decontaminator. In supplemental questions please specify which you are applying.

Perform boat inspector and decontaminator responsibilities according to state regulations and standard protocols at Turquoise Lake near Leadville, Colorado.

Responsibilities
  • Perform boat inspection and decontamination duties per state regulations and standard protocols at Turquoise Lake, inspecting all boats launching and leaving the reservoir.
  • Lead Aquatic Nuisance Species (ANS) Inspector:
    Provide on‑the‑job training to inspection staff, create schedules, ensure shifts are covered during operational hours, collect and verify accurate time‑keeping records for payroll purposes, work with area lead to resolve staff and customer challenges, and recommend hiring/firing of employees to area lead.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot the power washer/decontamination unit; perform basic maintenance and repairs as needed.
  • Ensure inspection station staff follow standardized protocols and that data entry is performed accurately and completely.
  • Maintain inventory of all required supplies.
  • Provide public outreach on aquatic invasive species, including distributing printed material to visitors.
  • Work early morning, evening, and weekend shifts as required.
Minimum Qualifications , Substitutions, Conditions of Employment & Appeal Rights

BASIC REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma.
  • Good driving record and ability to work weekends, early morning and late evenings.
  • Experience working with boats, trailers, power washers, small engines and/or heavy equipment preferred.
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Excellent customer service experience working with the public desired.
  • Reliable and timely.
  • Ability to self‑motivate and work independently.
