Job OverviewReporting to the General Manager, the Mine Manager leads and manages the safe and efficient operation of all mine‑related activities to deliver production targets within cost and operational constraints. The role involves overseeing a team of 379 to operate a medium‑sized open‑pit mine and managing mine operations, maintenance, budgeting, and cost controls.
Key Responsibilities- Provide balanced, strategic leadership in all functions and activities of the Mining Department to maximize productivity at reasonable cost.
- Support the development, execution, and ongoing optimization of operational and asset‑management strategies.
- Ensure best‑practice methods and continuous‑improvement systems are developed, maintained, and benchmarked against other operations.
- Seek opportunities to grow inter‑departmental partnerships and deliver optimized results.
- Maintain and drive continuous improvement in mining operations, maintenance, forecasting, budgeting, cost controls, and reporting.
- Liaise with internal corporate and functional leadership to drive alignment.
- Maintain a strong focus on safety and environmental stewardship.
- Participate as a member of the CC&V Site Leadership Team to develop strategic organizational initiatives.
- Develop and implement annual financial operating and capital budgets and forecasts.
- Provide administrative and technical direction to achieve safe, efficient, and effective results.
- Hold direct reports and department members accountable to safe and productive work practices.
- Attract and grow a strong team aligned to deliver the site strategy.
- Establish and maintain continuous‑improvement work practices aligned with the CC&V safety culture.
- Maintain a strong field presence by driving meaningful safety interactions and condition inspections.
- B.S. in Mining Engineering or equivalent related degree (preferred).
- 10+ years of experience in the mining industry with proven experience leading safe operations in an open‑pit environment.
- 5+ years of overall progressive supervision experience.
- Relevant experience in open‑pit operations and influencing employee motivation (preferred).
- Experience in effective change‑management techniques and application.
- Experience leading programs for monitoring compliance, action planning, and verification of controls (preferred).
- Ability to read, comprehend, interpret, and learn mining literature, technical data, and manuals to improve operations, prevent loss, or minimize risk.
- Excellent people skills in coaching and mentoring, data organization, and evaluation.
- Decisive with ability to influence direction and manage organizational change.
- Ability to set up, administer, and audit systems for compliance, action planning, and control.
- Presentation, interpersonal, and communication skills appropriate to all organizational levels.
- Self‑starter with excellent team‑building and motivational skills.
- Strong time‑management skills with ability to work to tight deadlines.
- Strong understanding of MSHA regulations related to mining practices.
Position based in the United States at the Cripple Creek & Victor Mine, in Teller County, Colorado. Must be able to work at high altitude. For applicants residing in CO, the salary range for this role is $165,000 to $206,000.
