Under the direction of the Director of Recreation, the Recreation Facility Manager oversees the daily operations, safety, customer service, staffing, and facility support functions of the Berthoud Recreation Center. This position provides leadership for the front desk, membership services, child watch, custodial operations, third-party cleaning services, maintenance vendors, and assigned community events.
The Recreation Facility Manager establishes operational standards, develops staff, manages contracts and budgets, coordinates building maintenance and safety practices, and implements improvements that support an efficient, welcoming, and well-maintained facility. This position also provides management oversight for major community events, including the July 3 Festival, Farmers Market, and other assigned Town events.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
- Provide overall leadership and strategic direction for facility operations while establishing expectations for safety, accountability, teamwork, professionalism, cleanliness, and customer service.
- Supervise, coach, and evaluate full-time and part-time employees, including performance evaluations, professional development, goal setting, and resolution of employee performance or conduct concerns.
- Oversee recruitment, selection, onboarding, scheduling, training, promotions, disciplinary actions, and terminations in accordance with Town policies and procedures.
- Plan and lead quarterly team meetings focused on department priorities, customer service, risk management, emergency response, conflict resolution, operational procedures, and staff development.
- Oversee day-to-day operations of the front desk, including customer service standards, cash-handling procedures, facility communication, registrations, admissions, and resolution of escalated patron concerns.
- Direct membership sales, account maintenance, renewals, cancellations, member communication, retention efforts, and related procedures to support accurate records and continued membership growth.
- Oversee daily operations of the child watch area, including staffing, scheduling, safety procedures, participant records, customer service, staff training, and compliance with applicable policies.
- Supervise custodial staff and manage the third-party cleaning contractor to maintain consistent standards for cleanliness, sanitation, supply management, inspections, and corrective action.
- Manage relationships with maintenance vendors and contracted service providers, including preventative maintenance schedules, service calls, quotes, contracts, repair priorities, project coordination, and verification of completed work.
- Monitor the condition and operation of building systems, public areas, equipment, security systems, lighting controls, and facility technology; identify concerns and coordinate corrective action.
- Develop and maintain facility asset, preventative-maintenance, and replacement plans that address equipment condition, repair history, lifecycle costs, warranties, and long-term capital needs.
- Establish and enforce building safety standards, emergency action plans, risk-management procedures, facility rules, access controls, inspection practices, and required operational documentation.
- Review incidents, accidents, safety concerns, equipment failures, and facility conditions to identify trends, implement corrective actions, and coordinate with emergency responders, risk management, or regulatory agencies when necessary.
- Plan, coordinate, and oversee assigned community events, including the July 3 festival, farmers market, and other Town events, with responsibility for logistics, staffing, vendors, permits, safety planning, setup, operations, and post-event evaluation.
