Ski Patrol Station Lead
The Ski Patrol Station Lead is responsible for assisting the ski patrol Management in planning, managing and organizing daily activities in accordance with the department functions, policies, procedures, and guidance from the Assistant and Patrol Directors.
The primary function of the Department is to provide safe and efficient rescue and evacuation of injured guests from the mountain. Additional duties of the Department include (but are not limited to):
- Avalanche hazard reduction
- Risk mitigation for our guests and employees
- Evacuation of Aerial Tramways if necessary
- Detailed incident and investigative reports
- Proper operations of communication equipment
- Visual inspection of Aerial Tramways to report safety hazards and evidence of damage or wear.
- Guest services
- Crowd Control (Lifts, Trails and Special Events)
- Enforcement of Mountain Regulations
- Reckless skier control and documentation

Risk Management Daily 15%
Responsible for safety of guests and employees while on resort property
· Assists in avalanche hazard reduction
· Understanding laws and regulations concerning ski area operations
· Understands Workman's Comp policies and procedures
Documentation Daily 15%
· Provide input in Development of Patrol Best Practices in designated fields
· Help ensure completion of all required documentation on a daily, weekly, monthly, and seasonal basis.
· Periodic evaluation of required documentation
Training Daily 15%
Provide recommendations for Development and evaluation of specific training programs
· Provide recommendations for Development of training checklists
· Assist in training of new patrollers and ongoing trainings for returning patrollers
Personnel Daily 20%
Involved in selection process for team membership
· Review and mitigate safety issues in related fields
· Assign personnel for work missions
· Ensure that all daily duties are completed and recorded
· Manage available personnel, resources, and terrain in emergency situations
Equipment Daily 15%
Assist in evaluation,, and maintenance of equipment
· Provide recommendations for acquisition of new equipment
· Assist in the training of personnel in safe operation of equipment
· Ensure proper operation and care of communication equipment
Budget Daily 10%
Advise Patrol Management on operational needs
· Advise Patrol Management on capital needs
· Control expenditures within the scope of Direction from patrol Director
Other duties Daily 10%
Be familiar with Crisis Management Plans
· Be familiar with employee handbook
· Work closely with community Emergency Management Services
· Follow up on safety concerns, personnel issues with Patrol Management
· Manage terrain of assigned duty station on a daily basis
· Assist in creation and dissemination of daily work plans
· Other duties as assigned by Patrol Management
Ski Patrol Station Lead receives work direction from Ski Patrol Management .
· Work direction is provided verbally and in writing.
· Work in progress is reviewed regularly and approved by Ski Patrol Management.
· Questions regarding the assigned task should be directed to the Ski Patrol Management .
Ski Patrol Station Lead has decision making authority regarding allocation of staff to complete daily duties and missions.
· Decisions involving departmental policy must be referred to the Ski Patrol Director.
Ski Patrol Station Lead is expected to ensure all documentation is completed as directed by Ski Patrol Management.
Ski Patrol Station Lead is required to take care of equipment and is required to service or repair equipment if possible.
· Ski Patrol Station Lead is expected to report damaged or missing equipment to Patrol Management and other appropriate departments.
