You will contribute to the success of the Operations Team by applying your knowledge of manufacturing processes to support team and company goals and to deliver innovative, reliable solutions. The successful candidate will collaborate effectively with cross‑functional teams, demonstrate strong problem‑solving and decision‑making skills, and maintain a commitment to professional excellence, quality, and continuous improvement.

The Role:

The Associate Manufacturing Engineer participates in the development, optimization, and sustainment of manufacturing processes for designated products or product lines. The role focuses on executing clearly defined engineering tasks, supporting improvements in production efficiency, and collaborating with cross‑functional teams—including R&D, Quality, Production, Supply Chain, and Service—to ensure products are built safely, consistently, and to quality standards.

  • Assist in developing, documenting, and improving manufacturing processes and work instructions for instruments, subassemblies, and modules.
  • Support day‑to‑day production activities; troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, optical, and software‑related issues with guidance.
  • Learn principles of precision assembly and participate in the alignment, testing, and calibration of products following established procedures.
  • Assist in the design and implementation of in‑process tests that enhance product quality and throughput.
  • Support MES workflow execution, including routings and data collection plans, and assist with limited implementation tasks on designated product lines.
  • Apply basic lean manufacturing principles to reduce waste and improve flow.
  • Identify potential automation opportunities that improve consistency and efficiency.
  • Ensure manufacturing processes comply with quality systems and safety requirements.
  • Continuously evaluate processes for improvements in efficiency, quality, and safety.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Physics, Optics, or a related technical field; or equivalent education and hands‑on manufacturing experience.
  • Basic understanding of manufacturing processes and production support.
  • Exposure or willingness to learn lean manufacturing principles.
  • Experience with web‑based software.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team‑based, cross‑functional environment.
  • Strong problem‑solving, communication, and documentation skills.
  • Eagerness to learn from senior members of the operational team.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Relevant manufacturing or production engineering experience.
  • Coursework or basic understanding of optics or electro‑mechanical systems.
  • Exposure to basic machine tools.
  • Basic soldering, PCB rework, or electronics assembly experience.
  • Familiarity with automated drafting tools (e.g., AutoCAD, Solid Works, Creo).
  • Practical application through coursework or prior work experience.

Work Environment &

Physical Requirements:

This role operates primarily in an office/lab/manufacturing environment. You must be able to sit, stand, and use a computer for extended periods. Occasional lifting of up to 35 lbs may be required. You may work in laboratory environments that include exposure to X‑rays, radiation, high‑powered lasers, and biological materials, all within established safety protocols and regulatory guidelines. Compensation

& Benefits
  • Competitive base salary range: $73,000 – $100,000, depending on experience.
