Position Overview
As part of the talented Boston Whaler team, a fiberglass laminator creates components for boats by applying fiberglass to a mold. The role ensures sufficient resin‑saturated, fiberglass matting, removes air bubbles, and handles resin mixing, curing, and removal from the mold.

Essential Functions- Ensure required parts and raw materials are ready to run when scheduled.
- Arrange material in a specific order or pattern using documentation.
- Spray fiberglass and lay sheets on the part mold.
- Press layers into place and use a roller to smooth wrinkles or voids.
- Use fiberglass chop guns, hands, arms, and rollers for handling and positioning material.
- Use mil gauge for gel coats and fiberglass to apply the correct amount of material.
- Keep the material handling area clean and tidy.
- Participate in continuous improvement and cost‑saving initiatives.
- Participate in EH&S and Quality initiatives.
- Operate material handling equipment such as platform trucks, forklifts, aerial work platforms, pallet jacks, and overhead hoists.
- Wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as respirators, gloves, chemical‑resistant aprons, and suits.
- High school diploma, GED, 1+ year related experience, or equivalent combination.
- Basic computer knowledge.
- Ability to read, hear, interpret, and understand verbal or written instructions and exchange accurate information with others.
- Proactive team player, self‑starter with constant attention to improvement.
- Excellent reasoning skills; able to research system discrepancies and kitting errors.
- Basic reading comprehension and writing; work from verbal and written instructions; complete routine paperwork.
- Highly focused and organized with high attention to detail.
- Handle multiple priorities and people.
- High energy, creative thinking, and problem‑solving ability.
- Proficient in MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word).
- Familiar with Materials Resources Planning (MRP) software and systems.
- Marine experience preferred but not required.
- Familiarity with modern warehousing practices and methods.
- Shop floor working environment, non‑climate controlled; temperature fluctuates.
- Exposure to high temperatures, hot and humid environment during summer.
- Noise level moderate with intermittent spikes.
- Required to wear safety glasses, Tyvex aprons, half mask respirator, and other PPE on the shop floor.
- Frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts, resins, fiberglass dust, epoxy, composites, and chemicals.
- Walk or stand for extended periods.
- Regularly bend, stoop, kneel, twist, crouch, reach, climb, and lift up to 35 pounds.
- Vision abilities: close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception.
The job may involve moving mechanical parts, high or precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and moderate noise levels.
CompensationHourly pay range: $18.59 to $28.30. Actual base pay varies by qualifications and business needs.
