CNC Machinist / Programmer
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented CNC Machinist / Programmer to join our precision manufacturing team. This position is responsible for programming, setting up, operating, and troubleshooting CNC mills, lathes, and 5-axis machining centers to produce high-quality precision components according to blueprints, specifications, and customer requirements.
The ideal candidate has strong hands-on CNC machining experience, understands tight tolerances and GD&T, and is capable of independently creating and editing CNC programs using Mastercam.
Key Responsibilities- Program, set up, and operate CNC mills, CNC lathes, and 5-axis machining centers.
- Create CNC programs and toolpaths using Mastercam for new and existing components.
- Program complex machining operations for 3-axis and 5-axis milling and CNC turning applications.
- Review, edit, optimize, and troubleshoot existing CNC programs to improve quality, cycle times, and machining efficiency.
- Perform machine setups, changeovers, tooling selection, fixturing, and work holding.
- Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, GD&T, work instructions, and specifications.
- Determine appropriate tooling, speeds, feeds, cutting strategies, and machining sequences.
- Load programs and adjust machine offsets, tooling, speeds, and feeds as needed.
- Set up and operate 5-axis CNC equipment for complex, high-precision components.
- Operate and program CNC lathes for turning, facing, boring, threading, and other machining operations.
- Inspect machined components throughout the production process to ensure dimensional accuracy and conformance to specifications.
- Use precision measuring equipment including calipers, micrometers, height gauges, bore gauges, and other inspection tools.
- Machine components to tight tolerances while maintaining established quality and production standards.
- Troubleshoot programming, tooling, dimensional, and machine-related issues.
- Identify tool wear and make necessary adjustments or tool changes.
- Perform deburring, cleaning, and finishing of machined components as required.
- Complete first-piece, in-process, and final inspections.
- Perform basic preventative maintenance and maintain CNC equipment and work areas.
- Accurately complete production, inspection, and quality documentation.
- Follow established safety procedures and quality requirements.
- Collaborate with engineering, quality, and production teams to improve machining processes and resolve manufacturing issues.
- Previous CNC machining and programming experience in a precision manufacturing or machine shop environment.
- Experience programming, setting up, and operating 5-axis CNC machines.
- Proficiency with Mastercam CNC programming.
- Ability to create programs and toolpaths from blueprints, models, and engineering specifications.
- Strong knowledge of machining processes, tooling, speeds, feeds, fixtures, and work holding.
- Ability to independently take a part from programming through setup, machining, and inspection.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and machining specifications.
- Strong understanding of GD&T and tight-tolerance machining.
- Proficiency with precision measuring and inspection equipment.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to work independently and effectively within a team environment.
- Dependable attendance and strong work ethic.
We're looking for a skilled machinist/programmer who can take ownership of the machining process from programming and setup through production and final inspection. The ideal candidate is comfortable with Mastercam, CNC mills, lathes, and 5-axis equipment, can troubleshoot complex machining and programming issues, and takes pride in producing accurate, high-quality precision components.
