About the Role

The Activities Volunteer plays a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for individuals within our community by organizing and facilitating engaging recreational and social activities. This unpaid position focuses on creating a welcoming and inclusive environment where participants can connect, learn, and enjoy themselves. The volunteer will collaborate with staff and other volunteers to plan, prepare, and execute a variety of events tailored to diverse interests and abilities.

Through their efforts, the volunteer helps foster a sense of belonging and promotes mental and physical well-being among participants. Ultimately, this role contributes significantly to building a vibrant, supportive community atmosphere.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in planning and organizing a range of activities such as games, arts and crafts, educational workshops, and social events.
  • Engage with participants to encourage involvement and ensure a positive, inclusive experience for all attendees.
  • Set up and clean up activity spaces before and after events to maintain a safe and welcoming environment.
  • Collaborate with other volunteers and staff to evaluate the success of activities and suggest improvements.
  • Provide support and assistance to participants as needed, ensuring their comfort and safety throughout activities.
Skills

The required skills such as strong communication and interpersonal abilities are essential for engaging participants and fostering an inclusive environment. Organizational skills help the volunteer effectively plan and coordinate activities, ensuring smooth execution. Preferred skills like creativity and knowledge of group facilitation enhance the quality and diversity of activities offered.
