Youth Leadership and Engagement Coordinator – Pride of the Glens
The Youth Leadership and Engagement Coordinator leads the day-to-day implementation of Pride of the Glens' youth leadership, belonging, and engagement programs, including the Colorado Health Foundation-funded Building Agency, Identity, and Belonging initiative.
Working closely with the Project Director, the Youth Leadership and Engagement Coordinator recruits and supports youth participants, coordinates mentors and volunteers, facilitates programming, organizes community service projects and cultural experiences, and helps ensure that youth programming is welcoming, culturally responsive, youth-driven, and aligned with grant goals and outcomes.
The Youth Leadership & Engagement Coordinator helps youth develop a strong sense of belonging, positive identity, leadership skills, and agency through culturally responsive, youth-driven programming. The Coordinator supports youth in exploring and celebrating their cultural identities, strengthening connections to their community, and building confidence in their ability to influence the issues that affect their lives, with special emphasis on creating welcoming spaces for Latino, immigrant, and historically underserved youth.
This position is based at the Pride of the Glens Community Center in Dacono, Colorado. Regular in-person presence at the Community Center and in the surrounding communities served by Pride of the Glens is required to support relationship-building, community engagement, and program implementation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Coordinate and facilitate middle school and high school youth cohorts during the school year.
- Lead implementation of a cohort-based summer program providing at least 75 hours of youth engagement through community action, leadership development, cultural learning, nature-based experiences, and mentorship.
- Plan and implement engaging activities focused on identity, belonging, culture, leadership, mentorship, community engagement, civic participation, and environmental stewardship.
- Organize and facilitate community action projects, including neighborhood improvement, Adopt-A-Yard activities, environmental stewardship projects, community beautification efforts, and civic engagement opportunities.
- Coordinate cultural celebrations, community events, and youth leadership opportunities.
- Organize cultural, civic, and nature-based learning experiences and excursions, including outdoor education experiences.
- Ensure programming is safe, welcoming, inclusive, culturally responsive, and youth-centered.
- Facilitate activities that promote cultural pride, identity development, belonging, and leadership.
- Support youth in exploring their family histories, cultural traditions, community assets, and lived experiences.
- Integrate culturally responsive and identity-affirming practices throughout program activities.
- Facilitate youth participation in planning activities, selecting learning topics, designing service projects, choosing cultural and nature-based excursions, and shaping program improvements.
- Support youth leadership opportunities through community events, outreach, social media, cultural celebrations, peer leadership activities, and organizational initiatives.
- Encourage youth voice, decision-making, and ownership throughout all aspects of programming.
- Ensure programming remains responsive to participant feedback and evolving youth interests.
- Support youth in identifying community issues that matter to them and developing projects, activities, and solutions that address those issues.
- Create opportunities for youth to influence organizational decisions, community events, and program design.
- Build positive, trusting relationships with youth participants and their families.
- Support recruitment, outreach, and family engagement efforts to ensure strong participation and retention.
- Collaborate with staff, volunteers, schools, and community partners to connect youth and families with program opportunities.
