The Director of Nursing provides clinical and operational leadership for the nursing department, ensuring the delivery of safe, high quality resident care and full regulatory compliance. This role is accountable for clinical outcomes, survey readiness, team performance, and the overall integrity of nursing operations. Working closely with the Executive Director and interdisciplinary leaders, the DON drives quality improvement initiatives, develops clinical talent, and fosters a culture of accountability and compassionate service.

This community includes a licensed Skilled Nursing component and requires strong knowledge of Medicare and Medicaid regulations, survey readiness standards, clinical reimbursement systems such as PDPM, and quality metric oversight.

What You'll Do

  • Lead and oversee all nursing operations, ensuring excellence in resident care and clinical outcomes
  • Maintain full compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, with continuous survey readiness
  • Ensure accurate assessments, care planning, medication management, and clinical documentation standards
  • Recruit, develop, and hold accountable nursing leaders and frontline clinical staff
  • Manage staffing strategy, scheduling oversight, and labor effectiveness
  • Drive quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives
  • Oversee infection prevention and risk management processes
  • Partner with physicians, hospitals, pharmacies, and external providers to ensure continuity of care
  • Address resident and family concerns with professionalism and urgency
  • Collaborate with community leadership to support census growth, operational stability, and financial performance

What You'll Need to Bring

  • Active, unencumbered Registered Nurse license in the state of practice
  • Three or more years of clinical experience in senior living, skilled nursing, or long term care
  • Prior leadership experience overseeing nursing teams
  • Strong working knowledge of state and federal long term care regulations
  • Experience supporting regulatory surveys and quality improvement initiatives
  • Proven ability to lead teams, manage performance, and drive accountability
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem solving skills
