Overview
Come join our awesome team at The Homestead at Montrose as a Registered Nurse (RN). The Homestead at Montrose is part of Volunteers of America National Services, the Housing and Healthcare subsidiary of the Volunteers of America parent organization.
CompensationHourly Pay: $37.45 - $44.95 per hour based on experience.
SchedulePART TIME – Days will vary, but generally Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm.

- Utilize the nursing process in planning and providing direct care to residents as assigned.
- Plan, direct, and carry out shift routines in the assigned nursing unit.
- Observe, direct, and evaluate the activities of personnel as the person “in charge” according to the Nurse Practice Act.
- Provide leadership and direction on assigned units, including HHA’s, STNAs, TMA’s, interdisciplinary team, supervisory and management team, customers, residents, and families.
- Listen to shift reports and maintain open lines of communication with supervisor, co‑workers, and the incoming shift.
- Make rounds to residents to observe their physical and psychosocial status.
- Assign personnel appropriately to meet resident needs.
- Ensure that unit personnel on your shift are carrying out their assignments.
- Attend nurses and team meetings as scheduled and/or assigned.
- Initiate disciplinary action when the performance of personnel warrants such action.
- Report occupational exposures per facility policy and procedures governing accidents and incidents.
- Maintain competence in all required skills within the facility.
- Ensure residents are treated with respect and dignity; immediately report any suspected abuse or neglect per company policy.
- Perform nursing techniques for the comfort and well‑being of the resident.
- Be drug knowledgeable and report resident responses, side effects, and potential problems to the physicians.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in accordance with facility policies and procedures.
- Follow shift routines, policy, and procedures regarding monitoring of vital signs, weights, medication administration, and treatments.
- Make physician calls to report resident changes in condition.
- Keep families updated on resident conditions.
- Comply with acute emergency protocols and tasks involved in the event of a 911 call.
- Follow all DNR/DNI/CPR/Comfort Care protocols and orders.
- Contribute toward completing and updating resident care plans.
- Evaluate the performance of all personnel working under your supervision and direction.
- Perform routine charting duties and adhere to charting and documentation policies and procedures.
- Accurately transcribe physician’s orders and forward necessary information to other departments.
- Document and report all incidents, accidents involving residents, visitors, and staff.
- Chart nurses’ notes in an informative and descriptive manner that reflects the care provided and the resident response.
- Participate in employee performance evaluations, determine staffing requirements, make recommendations to the Supervisor regarding employee counseling, etc.
- Attend required in‑services and complete assigned online modules.
- Serve on, participate in, and attend various committees and meetings of the facility to enhance interdisciplinary processes.
- Current licensure in the state of employment as a Registered Nurse.
- Current CPR registration.
- Experience in long‑term care preferred.
- Good problem‑solving skills with the ability to make independent judgments using initiative, discretion, and the nursing process.
- Customer service orientation and knowledge of successful customer service techniques.
- Clinical competence to perform physical and cognitive assessments of residents.
- Ability to utilize computers and other electronic devices for tasks such as timekeeping, in‑servicing, and documentation.
