Bronson Battle Creek Hospital Registered Nurse (RN) Observation Unit FT 12D (7a-7p)

Under general supervision and within the organization’s policies, this registered nurse manages the care delivery for patients throughout their stay in the Observation Unit. Responsibilities include assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care; coordination with other professionals; delegation of tasks within scope; documentation and communication of patient status.

• Perform the full nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, evaluation).
• Coordinate interdisciplinary care and delegate tasks appropriately.
• Document patient responses, resource usage, and anticipated needs during each tour of duty.
• Ensure timely discharge planning and achieve quality outcomes.
• Maintain competency specific to observation unit patient population.
• Execute scrub RN duties for surgical procedures: interpret procedure cards, manage supplies, observe patient changes, support the surgical team, and handle after‑hour call rotations.

• Associate’s degree in Nursing required.
• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing preferred and must be obtained within 8 years of hire.
• Licensed Registered Nurse in good standing, State of Michigan.
• BLS certification required; ALS or critical‑care certifications may be required.
• Specialized certifications as outlined for specific units (e.g., SALT, ESI, NIH Stroke Scale, ACLS, PALS).
• Current driver’s license in Michigan and proof of insurance for BAH.
• Demonstrated proficiency in computer systems and effective verbal, written, and electronic communication.
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform repetitive tasks.
