Nursery Worker

• Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Exposure to extreme temperatures.
• Extensive pushing or pulling, sitting or walking, frequent stooping or bending over, repetitive movements.
• Will to take a post‑hire drug test at no cost to the worker.

• Operate farm equipment including tractors with various implements, sprayers, combines, and trucks to prepare and maintain land, irrigate, fertilize, cultivate, plant, harvest, sort, grade, pack, load, and transport horticultural plants; also perform repair and maintenance on farm equipment when required.
• Use hand tools such as shovels, trowels, hoes, tampers, pruning hooks, shears, and knives.
• Transplant, weed, thin, prune plants; apply pesticides; detect the presence of insects or disease; inform farmers or farm managers of crop/plant progress.
• Record information about plants and plant growth; transplant or pot and label plants; work in nursery facilities.
• Regulate greenhouse conditions and participate in irrigation activities such as maintaining, repairing, and operating irrigation equipment; set up and/or maintain a ridge of earth around fields to maintain an adequate water supply, drain excess water from fields, create openings for drainage overfall; walk each field to check for standing water.
• Perform sanitation duties that include removing trash or debris from work areas, farm buildings, and fields; assist in upkeep of sanitation standards required by OSHA such as changing potable water quality when necessary; keep hand‑washing facilities neat and orderly; clean toilet area of any personal contaminants and properly dispose of trash or garbage from the facilities.
• Mow grass around fields and around farm shop locations; dig ditches or channels for drainage or seedlings.
• Construct trellises, repair farm buildings or other structures, and use hand tools to perform maintenance or repairs to fencing (barrier, railing, or other upright structure) around fields and around the farm.
• Few typical days and workers may be required to change duties and engage in various general functions.

Anticipated Hours of Work Per Week: 35 hours per week

Schedule:

Monday to Friday 7am to 1pm & 5 hours on Saturday.

Anticipated Period of Employment: 3/28/26 to 10/30/26

Pay: $16.28 per hour

Effective 1/1/25:
Overtime must be paid after 48 hours/week, or 56 hours/week for up to 22 “peak weeks” for highly seasonal employers.
