You will serve as a QUALITY ASSURANCE SPECIALIST in the Quality Assurance Department of Trident Refit Facility, Bangor (TRFB).

Duties

Help
  • You will perform various developmental assignments for the Quality Assurance Department divisions at Trident Refit Facility (TRF) Quality Assurance by assisting senior Quality Assurance Specialists (QAS).
  • You will support senior quality assurance specialists while executing reviews, surveillances, and audits to evaluate technical and administrative operations conformance to procedural, technical, and quality assurance requirements.
  • You will collect data from surveillances, audits, deficiency reports, and examinations.
  • You will review material certification, inspection, and test results of production, inspection personnel, or contractors to ensure technical adequacy and compliance with technical requirements.
  • You will aid with the development and maintenance of procedures or training for quality assurance programs.
  • You will obtain information from databases, technical requirement documents, and other systems. Maintaining and retrieving historical records.
  • You will attend formal and informal training courses.
  • You will receive on the-job training by observing senior quality assurance staff in performance of quality management duties or performing work under observation.

  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
Qualifications

The Upward Mobility Program is a unique job opportunity. This program is designed to provide Department of Navy employees career growth opportunities who have potential but do not presently meet the Office of Personnel Management qualification requirements for this position. The entry level for this position is GS-09 with a full performance level of GS-12.

Knowledge of employees selected may vary and will require the development of an individually tailored training plan to assist them in qualifying for the full performance level of this position. Eligibility requires that the employee be performing satisfactorily, complete all training requirements, acquire the requisite qualifications and have met time-in-grade eligibility for career ladder promotions.

This recruitment is open to applicants with GS-09 or WG-10 (or higher) equivalent experience demonstrating the ability to assist with quality assurance teams with reviews, inspections, or audits to ensure technical or administrative standards are met.
