PhD Intern in Trapped‑Ion Quantum Computing Theory
Location:
Broomfield, Colorado. All applicants for placement in safety‑sensitive positions will be required to submit to a pre‑employment drug test.
- Apply previous experience in research to help measure and improve quantum computers using trapped ions as qubits.
- Work alongside teams of scientists to bring new concepts to life.
- Work in a research environment to collect data on system performance, characterise device characteristics, and propose methods for improvements.
- Currently enrolled in a PhD program.
- Graduating on or after December 2026.
- Due to contractual requirements, must be a U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or green card holder, or worker granted asylum or refugee status).
- Due to national security requirements, candidates must not be a People's Republic of China national or Russian national unless the candidate is also a U.S. citizen.
- 2+ years' experience (PhD inclusive) involving atomic physics, quantum benchmarking, quantum information, or quantum computing.
- Experience performing simulation and modeling to inform experiments.
- Experience with constructing quantum circuits.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, with published results within their field of research.
Hourly wage $24–$35 per hour. For candidates located outside of this state, this role includes a housing stipend of up to $1,000 per month.
