Technical Support Breeding Technician

The success of our genetic improvement programs depends on precise execution at each stage of the process. As a Technical Support Breeding Technician at Enza Zaden, you will play a key role in activities such as seed management, planting, crossings, crop monitoring, and data collection for research and improvement trials. You will work alongside multidisciplinary teams in the field, greenhouse, and laboratory, contributing to the development of innovative vegetable varieties that make a difference for farmers around the world.

Make a difference as a Technical Support Breeding Technician

As a Technical Support Breeding Technician, you will play a key role in supporting the research and genetic improvement programs for vegetables. You will be responsible for executing operational and administrative activities related to seed preparation and management, planting, crop monitoring, sampling, and data collection in research and improvement trials. You will work in collaboration with breeders, researchers, and product specialists in laboratory, greenhouse, and field environments, contributing to the successful development of breeding programs.

In this position, your work will include:

  • Preparing seed lots for research trials, genetic improvement, and selection tests, including all required administrative activities.
  • Performing planting, monitoring germination, and taking data in the required seedbed and establishing field trials for different crops.
  • Coordinating and executing crossing programs and related activities.
  • Taking leaf tissue or seed samples for genetic marker analysis or disease monitoring, including corresponding administration in traceability tools.
  • Collecting routine phenotypic data from plants, fruits, and seeds in research, genetic improvement, and selection trials. Recording this information in the corresponding digital tools.
  • Participating in crop care activities, seed extraction, and cleaning and/or any genetic improvement support activity necessary to successfully execute plant improvement programs with supervision as required.

As a Technical Support Genetic Improvement Technician, you bring a proactive attitude, attention to detail, and the ability to follow procedures precisely. You are capable of performing operational and administrative activities related to seed preparation, planting, sampling, data collection, and support for research trials and improvement. You perform well in a collaborative environment and work closely with breeders, researchers, product specialists, and crop workers to ensure the correct execution of activities.

Additionally, you have:

  • Professional or technical level related to agriculture (agronomy or similar).
  • 1-2 years of work experience in the agricultural or nursery industry.
  • Experience working in multidisciplinary teams (breeders, researchers, and other specialists);
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Basic level of English.
