Position: Research Scientist - Quantum Error Correction - 638
Location: Broomfield

We are seeking highly qualified research scientists with expertise in quantum error correction (QEC) and software development for our Broomfield, CO location. Quantinuum believes that employees work better, more efficiently and more collaboratively in close proximity to other employees. All employees should work at their assigned location; however, this role may offer the opportunity to work remotely up to 2 days per week with approval.

Key

responsibilities
  • Develop software tools to facilitate quantum error correction research in fault‑tolerant compilation, error modeling, decoding, and resource estimation.
  • Conduct theoretical and computational research in quantum error correction.
  • Interface with software and compiler teams to guide the design of the software stack for large quantum computers.
  • Conduct research in quantum error correction and implement demonstrations on the world’s most powerful quantum computers.
Requirements
  • PhD minimum (prior to start date).
  • Minimum 2+ years of experience (including PhD).
  • Must be a U.S. Person: U.S. citizen, permanent resident or green card holder, workers granted asylum or refugee status.
  • Due to national security requirements, candidates must not be a People’s Republic of China national or Russian national unless the candidate is also a U.S. citizen.
Preferred qualifications
  • PhD in a field relevant to quantum computing strongly preferred.
  • An exceptional research publication track record.
  • Additional post‑doctoral research experience beyond a PhD.
  • Formal background in theoretical physics, math, or computer science with a proven track record of solving challenging problems.
  • Experience with high‑performance computing for scientific applications.
  • Experience working with quantum computing hardware.
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Compensation & Benefits

Incentive Eligible – Range inclusive of bonus target when applicable.

The pay range for this role is $192,000 – $240,000 annually. Actual compensation within this range may vary based on the candidate’s skills, educational background, professional experience, and unique qualifications for the role.
