Installation Security Officer (260003YG)

The Massachusetts National Guard seeks an Installation Security Officer to perform armed security patrol duties on Joint Base Cape Cod. The position covers a swing shift (1:30 PM - 9:30 PM) or a midnight shift (9:30 PM - 5:30 AM), possibly including one or both weekend days.

Overview

The incumbent will verify installation access, respond to alarms, maintain records, and ensure the safety of the installation by enforcing security protocols and access controls.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Validate IDs for installation access.
  • Dispatch security forces units to scenes of incidents.
  • Respond to alarms and conduct random area checks.
  • Maintain records and prepare shift reports.
  • Transmit messages to officers on patrol.
  • Detect threats to restricted areas, detaining and apprehending violators.
  • Participate in training exercises to maintain proficiency.
  • Issue temporary passes to visitors.
  • Conduct random vehicle searches.
Qualifications
  • Previous experience as armed security.
  • Knowledge of rights of detained individuals and use‑of‑force rules.
  • Knowledge of tactics and procedures for catastrophic events, enemy attacks, and related threats.
  • Knowledge of specialized access‑control enforcement procedures.
  • Must pass an initial pre‑employment medical exam.
  • Must pass a pre‑employment physical agility test.
  • Must be willing to obtain initial and annual firearms qualification.
  • Must be able to work all shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must be able to obtain a Secret Clearance within the probationary period.
  • Dependability, self‑control, attention to detail, cooperation, and concern for others.

Applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent and pass all required screenings, medical exam, physical agility certification, and hold a valid motor vehicle driver’s license.
