The Mountain Security Officer oversees the safety and security of employees and guests by monitoring, responding to, and investigating resort complaints, operational incidents, fire, and various emergencies within the Village role requires frequent communication with employees, guests, and outside law enforcement and fire personnel.
Responsibilities- Patrol Copper Mountain Property and grounds daily/nightly on a frequent basis to ensure all areas remain secure, free of unauthorized persons, and safe.
- Respond to any law enforcement, fire, or medical incident that occurs within the Village.
- Act through Incident Command System (ICS) in any emergency situation.
- Perform loss prevention duties by monitoring the area and documenting any needed actions.
- Remain available on Copper Mountain Resort radio and cell phone during scheduled hours.
- Investigate and document vandalism or theft of village or resort property; report to the Sheriff’s Department/Risk and Safety for insurance.
- Operate a computer‑based RMS to track all statistics and hot areas across the resort.
- Support operations around the base of the mountain and within Edge employee housing.
- Respond to employee and guest calls around the mountain.
- Review CCTV footage for villages, Edge/Sky Chutes Landing housing, and mountain during investigations.
- Respond as primary triage for all base area medicals; CPR/BLS/crowd management certifications provided after training.
- Maintain a professional appearance and character; body cameras are used during incidents.
- Complete a detailed nightly report at the end of each shift, forwarding it to relevant managers and risk teams.
- Assist other Copper Mountain departments (Front Desk, Housekeeping, Bellman, Property Management, Banquets, Maintenance, etc.) as needed.
Assist and support the Edge Housing Team with group lodging and resident check‑in/check‑out processes, lock‑outs, and related tasks.

- Physical capability to lift 125 pounds and carry for prolonged periods; stand for long periods.
- Able to complete a security round per hour (1/8 to >1 mile, 15–50 minutes).
- Comfortable navigating diverse surfaces and inclement weather conditions; able to climb stairs and navigate hilly terrain.
- Minimum age 21 years.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous security, fire, or law‑enforcement experience strongly preferred.
- Experience in law‑enforcement situations; CPR/first aid preferred but not required.
Due to the sensitive nature of this position, a criminal background check will be conducted after position is accepted in accordance with Fair Credit Reporting Act standards.
