Role Overview
JLL is seeking an experienced Data Center Operating Engineer with a strong background in HVAC and mechanical systems to support critical operations at a major data center facility. This role is essential to maintaining reliable, uninterrupted service and ensuring the facility's infrastructure operates at peak efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee the maintenance, monitoring, and continuous operation of all building systems, with a particular focus on complex HVAC infrastructure (including air handlers, chillers, CRAC and CRAH units, controls, and BMS).
Perform scheduled preventive maintenance (PM) tasks-such as filter changes, coil cleaning, lubrication, calibration, and routine inspections-to ensure optimal equipment performance and longevity.
Respond rapidly and effectively to unplanned equipment issues by conducting corrective maintenance, diagnosing root causes, and executing timely repairs on HVAC, refrigeration, pumps, plumbing, control systems, and related mechanical equipment.
Troubleshoot and resolve system alarms and performance issues utilizing building automation and control systems, technical documentation, and industry best practices.
Operate medium voltage (MV) switch gear, low voltage (LV) switch gear, and emergency power generators ensuring safe and reliable electrical distribution in compliance with operational protocols.
Accurately document operational readings and maintenance activities, maintaining comprehensive records in the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
Ensure full compliance with safety protocols, including proper handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials, and contribute to a clean and secure working environment.
Support incident response and facility emergency procedures, collaborating with internal teams and third-party vendors as necessary.
Manage work orders, vendor coordination, and customer-facing service tickets efficiently and professionally.
Qualifications and Experience
Required:
Minimum of 5 years of direct experience maintaining and repairing HVAC and mechanical systems in a data center or similarly critical facility.
Demonstrated expertise in preventive and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, and diagnostics across a variety of mechanical systems: chilled water systems, DX units, CRAC/CRAH equipment, boilers, pumps, and controls.
Experience supporting building electrical systems, including UPS systems, generators, and switch gear.
Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), Google Suite applications, and computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to document technical information clearly.
Preferred:
Possession of a Universal EPA 608 certification.
Training in NFPA 70E electrical safety standards.
Physical Requirements
Ability to traverse large facility campuses and perform repetitive walking, climbing, bending, kneeling, lifting (minimum of 50 lbs.), stooping, and working overhead.
Comfortable accessing rooftops and using ladders (up to 30 ft).
Willingness to work assigned shifts, including holidays, and respond to emergencies as required

Estimated compensation for this position:
93,000. USD per year This range is an estimate and actual compensation may differ. Final compensation packages are determined by various considerations including but not limited to candidate qualifications, location, market conditions, and internal considerations.
