As a Broadband Technician II
, you will perform intermediate to complex installations, disconnects and service changes for residential customers, including FTTH (Fiber to the Home RFoG and GPON). These services include, but are not limited to, video service, HSD Services, and home phone service. This role performs moderate troubleshooting from the tap to the customer's electronic devices (TV, DVD, Modem, etc.). It involves underground and/or aerial construction, repair, and maintenance of system plant, supporting various customer‑focused activities.

Responsibilities include installing, splicing, repairing, and maintaining aerial, buried, and/or underground fiber optic and coax cable, and applying commonly used telecommunications concepts, practices, and procedures.

Due to in‑field support and on‑call requirements, the individual selected for this position will be required to reside within a 60‑minute driving distance from the Berthoud, Colorado warehouse located at 266 Basher Dr Unit 4, Berthoud, CO 80513.

The anticipated shift for this role will be Tuesday through Saturday, 8 am–5 pm with a call rotation required.

Positions may be hired at either Broadband Technician I, II, or III levels. Please refer to the respective job posting for the minimum qualifications required for each role and submit an application for each level that you are both interested in and qualified for.

Responsibilities
  • Perform intermediate and complex installation of cable wiring (interior and exterior) and hardware from the tap/MST to the customer’s equipment for single, multi‑family, and commercial dwellings over both Fiber Optic and Coax delivery methods.
  • Inspect and correct NESC safety violations for new construction builds, new service drops, and legacy facilities; coordinate underground drop burial work with contractors and in‑house crews; obtain permits from government agencies; track and update status within systems.
  • Conduct connects (new and reconnects), disconnects, upgrades, downgrades, relocations, additional outlet installations, fiber connections, and hard‑line cutovers; install or remove equipment (e.g., converters) in single or multiple unit dwellings.
  • Utilize test equipment to identify and repair signal strength issues, ensuring optimum reception for optical and RF signals. Use locators, TDRs, FDRs, and OTDRs while reading system maps, calculating signal loss, and interpreting plant blueprints.
  • Comply with quality control guidelines and applicable regulations such as OSHA, FCC, NEC, and NESC.
  • Monitor and record system, drop, and in‑house leakage; properly record all required information on work orders, surveys, referrals, etc.
  • Promote cable, internet, and other company services; educate customers on proper service usage and available additional services.
Required Qualifications
  • 1+ year basic technical telecommunications experience – or current/prior military service with honorable discharge.
  • 6+ months of basic fiber optic and/or copper cable splicing, repair, installation, or switch training.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Adherence to TDS attendance guidelines.
Other Qualifications
  • Successful completion of customer‑specific requirements, including a background check.
  • Availability for on‑call/standby responsibilities and occasional travel; willingness to work overtime.
  • Successful completion of all components of the Safety Course curriculum.
  • Maintenance of DOT requirements for operating vehicles with a combined GVRW >10,000 lbs.
  • Strong work ethic, reliable and responsible teamwork.
  • Practical knowledge of computer applications or burial construction.
  • Familiarity with company products and services.
  • Proven organizational skills and ability to multi‑task with limited instruction.
  • Demonstrated customer service and sales skills, along with effective verbal and written communication.
