Heavy Equipment Mechanic
Sunland Asphalt & Construction, LLC. is seeking a Heavy Equipment Shop Mechanic in Denver, Colorado.
Position PurposeThe Heavy Equipment Shop Mechanic performs skilled tasks in the repair of all fleet vehicles, machinery, motors, tools, and equipment used by the company.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities- Perform all duties with Sunland’s Core Values at the forefront.
- Advocate safety and follow safety policies and procedures.
- Perform and prioritize repairs and maintenance on heavy equipment and trucks (pavers, rollers, milling machines, dump trucks, etc.) including fluid levels, hoses, belts, brakes, tires, clutches, filters, oil, and lubrication.
- Respond to supervisors, complete work orders, and relay them to fleet admin and/or supervisor.
- Diagnose, service and repair trucks and equipment using electronic scan tools.
- Conduct Safety Meetings (daily PTP & weekly Tailgate Topics).
- Participate in jobsite and safety meetings and company training.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment; keep tools and equipment organized.
- Order fuel, parts, tools, and supplies as needed.
- Any other duties assigned.
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

- Safety‑sensitive position subject to drug and alcohol policy and OSHA regulations.
- Employees must wear appropriate PPE.
- Serve as safety ambassador, enforce safe work practices, identify and remedy hazards.
- Work at construction sites and shop; lift, push, pull, carry up to 50 lbs; climb stairs/ladders; balance, bend, stoop, kneel, crawl.
- Operate vehicles, trailers, equipment per safety guidelines.
- Work outside in all weather conditions.
- Possible exposure to chemicals, vapors, pollutants, noises, dust.
Full‑time; occasional evening and weekend work may be required.
TravelMust be willing to travel to any jobsite without exception.
Minimum Qualifications Education and Work Experience- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- 2‑3 years heavy equipment maintenance or equivalent education/experience.
- Scan tool experience is a plus.
- Fluent in English (speak, read, write).
- Meet FMCSA English proficiency requirements.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Basic tool set for preventative maintenance.
