What You Will Do

Highly skilled employees in the mechanical maintenance craft who apply a broad level of process and mechanical/maintenance knowledge to maximize and, where possible, improve the efficiency of the overall production process. Among these workers are machinists, heavy machinery mechanics, skilled automotive technicians, certified welders, pump rebuild mechanics and specialized maintenance mechanic personnel. The employee will work autonomously under required supervision where the primary objective is safe production.

  • Perform routine and non‑routine maintenance activities
  • Complete Work Orders and other maintenance documentation
  • Repair, install, fabricate, rebuild, and perform preventative maintenance of process equipment (e.g., pumps, conveyors, dryers, gearboxes, filters, etc.) and provide equipment lubrication
  • Competent in mechanics, hydraulics, pneumatics, pumps, bearings, conveyor systems, plumbing, alignment, machine shop, and mobile equipment. Qualified to operate small and large cranes and knowledgeable of safe rigging practices
  • Follow and understand MSHA and/or OSHA rules and regulations, environmental rules and regulations, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and work‑area instructions; participate in safety and environmental activities; use plant and equipment correctly at all times
  • Additional responsibilities and duties may be assigned according to business need
What You Bring To Freeport

Minimum Requirements:

  • Two (2) years’ experience in mechanical/maintenance crafts (including welder, boilermaker, machinist or facility maintenance/construction) or a combination of education and experience in industrial mechanical repair and maintenance
  • Must have completed academic and practical competencies required (this includes Line of Progression requirements for internal employees where LOP Exists) and have experience demonstrating the required mechanical aptitude
  • FPM Diagnostic Mechanic I:
    Demonstrate the ability to apply knowledge and technical skills while achieving a 35% score on a written assessment where required. Must be able to demonstrate proficient basic welding skills
  • HEM Diagnostic Mechanic I:
    Practical Skills Assessments defined in LOP
  • Shovel/Drill Diagnostic Mechanic I:
    Practical Skills Assessments defined in LOP

Preferred Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED

The estimated pay range for this role is currently $30.50 - $40.50/hour
