Airport Fleet Mechanic

Job Summary

The Airport Fleet Mechanic is responsible for diagnosing and repairing engines, transmissions, brakes, electrical and hydraulic systems on vehicles, light and heavy equipment, including specialized airport and runway equipment. The role also performs preventative maintenance and maintains maintenance records, supporting the Rocky Mountain Airport.

This full‑time position operates on a four‑day work week (Monday through Thursday during training; normal schedule Tuesday through Friday). It requires on‑site work, on‑call duty during nights, holidays, and weekends and may require working in extreme temperatures and variable weather conditions.

Hourly rate $28.10‑$33.00, determined by education, experience and skills.

• Perform major engine adjustments and rebuilds, including valve, carburetor, and generator adjustments
• Rebuild or replace vehicle parts and conduct mechanical repairs on drivetrain, brakes, steering, and other functional components
• Diagnose and repair engines, chassis, and electrical systems using wiring diagrams and diagnostic software
• Perform welding and fabricate special equipment, cutting and fitting material for welding
• Inspect mechanical equipment and parts, monitor preventive maintenance needs
• Diagnose, repair, and operate airport‑specific heavy equipment such as loaders, runway brooms, snow blowers, snowplows, and hydraulic accessories
• Keep work environment and equipment clean and orderly
• Repair and service airport ground support and fire rescue equipment to meet ACM airport standards
• Respond to aircraft emergencies as an Aircraft Rescue Fire Fighter and maintain FAA‑standard training
• Participate in airfield maintenance projects (painting, mowing, crack sealing)
• Participate in mandatory snow removal operations (12‑hour shifts as needed)
• Operate heavy snow removal equipment and take calls during on‑call rotation
• Maintain records of vehicle service and repairs, including inspections, inventory, and preventive maintenance monitoring
• Perform other related duties as required

• Minimum 1 year of work‑related mechanic experience
• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent certificate (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
• Valid Colorado driver’s license
• Preferred: 5+ years of mechanic experience, diesel engine experience, heavy‑line equipment experience (loaders, skid steers, airport equipment), basic radio communication knowledge
