DESCRIPTION

The Level I Service & Support Technician is an entry-level role responsible for assisting with the installation, service, and maintenance of integrated security and control systems. This position works under the direction of a lead technician to support the deployment, service, and maintenance of CCTV, access control, intercom, video visitation, duress, and other related systems.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assist with the installation, routing, and termination of wiring and cabling through conduit, walls, and ceilings
  • Measure, cut, bend, and install conduit using proper techniques, including bending, threading, and fitting
  • Mount and secure security equipment, including cameras and access control devices
  • Support the installation and integration of security systems under the direction of a lead technician
  • Perform basic testing and troubleshooting of CCTV, access control, intercom, video visitation, and duress systems
  • Read and interpret technical drawings and schematics with guidance from senior technicians
  • Apply basic electrical, electronic, and mechanical principles to identify equipment malfunctions
  • Assist in completing service and maintenance tasks to minimize emergency calls and reduce repeat service visits
  • Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work environment
  • Demonstrate a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and commitment to safety standards
  • Maintain the standards, culture, and values of CML Security
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor or lead technician
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • 1 year of related experience in low voltage, electrical, or IT field service preferred
  • Basic understanding of CCTV, access control, intercom, and related security systems
  • Foundational knowledge of computer networking concepts, including LAN/WAN, IP addressing, and DNS
  • Familiarity with conduit installation methods and cable management practices
  • Working knowledge of basic hand and power tools used in installation environments
  • Basic understanding of mechanical lock systems, including cylindrical, mortise, and rim locks, as well as motorized and manual detention equipment and sliding door systems
  • Ability to perform basic troubleshooting and follow technical instructions
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Basic computer proficiency
  • OSHA-10 certification required (or ability to obtain upon hire)
SUPERVISION

This position reports directly to the Service & Support Field Supervisor and works under the day-to-day direction of a lead technician. The role provides field support by assisting with installations, service, maintenance, and basic troubleshooting while gaining hands-on experience and following established procedures and supervision.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The SSD Level I Technician works in a variety of environments, including active construction sites, secure facilities, and correctional/detention facilities with strict security protocols. Travel to job sites is required, including local, overnight, and extended travel assignments (multiple days or weeks at a time) as needed and requires use of a dependable personal vehicle capable of safely transporting ladders, tools, and service-related equipment to and from job sites.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Ability to lift, carry, and move tools, materials, and equipment, including items weighing up to50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and climb as needed to perform installation,service, and inspection activities.
  • Ability to work from ladders, lifts, and in elevated or confined spaces as required by job site conditions.
  • Ability to use hands and fingers for handling tools, wiring, and small components, and to maintain visual acuity sufficient to read blueprints, labels, and diagnostic information.
  • Ability to work safely in a variety of environments, including construction sites, secure facilities,and correctional or detention settings, and to wear required personal protective equipment.
  • Ability to travel to assigned job sites and safely transport necessary tools, materials, and equipment as required for the position.
