Base Pay Range

$15.16/hr - $15.16/hr

Position Summary

Under the direction of the Associate Program Director, the Assistant Director supports the daily operations of the Craft Shop at Snow Mountain Ranch. This position assists in developing and delivering a variety of craft programs for guests, trains and supervises staff, maintains inventory, and ensures a welcoming and safe environment aligned with the YMCA’s mission and values.

Essential Functions
  • Train and mentor staff to effectively instruct and engage guests in all craft activities.
  • Maintain supply inventory to ensure each craft section remains fully stocked and organized.
  • Serve as a key contact for daily Craft Shop operations, providing hands‑on support to both staff and guests.
  • Offer daily problem‑solving guidance and assistance to staff members.
  • Address and resolve guest concerns in a professional and timely manner.
  • Handle staff performance and discipline matters in the absence of the Associate Program Director.
  • Assist in creating and implementing innovative craft programs that enhance the guest experience.
  • Participate in the planning and execution of activities that support the YMCA’s mission and community goals.
  • Model enthusiasm, professionalism, and the YMCA core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.
  • Participate in the daily cleaning, organization, and restocking of the Craft Shop.
  • Assist in other departments or programs as assigned to support operations.
Requirements/Qualifications
  • Experience in arts and crafts, previous employment in a Craft Shop, or education in Art or Art Education preferred.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Must be fluent in English (spoken and written).
  • Must be available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must hold current First Aid and CPR certification or be willing to obtain upon hire.

Work Environment & Physical Demands
  • Work takes place primarily indoors within the Craft Shop at Snow Mountain Ranch, occasionally involving outdoor errands or participation in events.
  • Frequent interaction with guests and staff in a fun, family‑friendly, and high‑traffic environment.
  • Requires standing for extended periods, bending, reaching, lifting and carrying supplies up to 25 lbs, and performing fine motor tasks.
  • Must be comfortable working with a variety of art materials, paints, glazes, and crafting tools.
  • Work schedule will include weekends, holidays, and flexible hours to meet guest and program needs.
