Job Description

The Division of Adult Parole exists to manage and supervise inmates/parolees on a 24 hour per day, seven day per week, 365 day per year basis to provide public safety and opportunities for successful re-entry of inmates/parolees returning to the community. Re-entry support services collaborate with this setting. This position provides comprehensive pre-release re-entry services to offenders currently incarcerated in the Colorado Department of Corrections who will be transitioning from incarceration to society.

Job duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Conduct meetings with inmates within six months of release to identify and collect meaningful information regarding criminogenic needs through a review of formal assessments, in addition to the information contained within the offender's electronic file and any prior case management notes, case plans, or progress summaries as identified per policy;
  • Determine appropriate resource needs and collaboratively develop transitional release plans with the inmate;
  • Monitor, evaluate and record inmate progress with respect to transitional release plans and make modifications as status changes;
  • Conduct interviews and collects relevant information to coordinate effective and efficient release planning;
  • Utilize motivational interviewing techniques, cognitive behavior interventions and other evidence-based practices and available assessment tools to enhance motivation for change;
  • Ensure that offenders receive assistance applying for community services that will directly impact their potential success on parole and in the community.
  • Maintain a supportive, multidisciplinary network of effective communication between internal and external stakeholders providing opportunities for offenders to receive feedback, crisis intervention, and grievance resolution;
  • Complete and document offender contacts, transitional release planning progress and any completed offender assessments;
  • Make recommendations to multi-disciplinary teams regarding transitional release planning;
  • Maintain exceptional customer service building and maintaining collaborative relationships with community partners and service and resource providers.
  • Work collaboratively with parole staff as necessary to identify and provide stabilization resources for transitioning parolees.
  • Attend collaborative meetings with stakeholders to plan, develop and implement community re-entry initiatives and local inmate focused services;
  • Complete parole plan investigations for inmates releasing from institutions in accordance with established time frames;
  • Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience Only:
Three (3) years of relevant experience working directly with a hard to serve high needs client population in a correctional or human services environment providing case management work to include case planning, assessment of risks and needs, coordination of community services and/or identifying needs and referring to appropriate resources, and monitoring compliance and overall case supervision as your primary assignment.

Additional components may include multidisciplinary staffing/regular meetings, resolving client issues, and aiding offenders in locating housing and acquiring employment.

OR

Three (3) years of corrections experience which must include one (1) year experience with a hard to serve, high needs client population providing components of management of incarcerated individuals exhibited by involvement and familiarity with processes that directly affect classification, programming, or daily living which provide progressive opportunities for appropriate placement to include involvement in:
Internal Classification Committees (ICC), Classification Hearings, Job Placement and Supervision, Individualized Program Instruction/Tutoring, Multi-Disciplinary Staffing, Responding to Grievances and Resolving Issues of incarcerated individuals, Housing Placement and Movement of incarcerated individuals, Intelligence Gathering and Processing, as well as Role Modeling Pro-Social Behaviors while maintaining Positive Professional Communications by providing the incarcerated population with Crisis Intervention. Additional components may include components such as aiding in locating housing, help with acquiring employment, and community resources/ support to include regular meetings with clients, coordination of services and/ or assessing client's needs and referring to appropriate program intervention.

Experience may also include aiding clients with overcoming barriers for stability in reaching re-entry goals.
