Embedded Software Engineer

Embedded Software Engineer for space applications (satellite systems and payloads). Responsible for developing firmware (bare metal and RTOS) and real-time systems.

As an Embedded Software Engineer at Aurora Firmware, you will play a critical role in developing software solutions tailored to space applications, including satellite systems and payloads. Responsibilities include designing, implementing, and testing embedded software to ensure reliability and performance in space environments. Ideal candidates possess strong expertise in real-time systems, embedded programming languages, and a keen interest in advancing technology for space exploration.

• Develop and optimize embedded software solutions tailored for space services, ensuring reliability and performance in satellite systems.
• Support the development of (bare metal & RTOS) firmware run on embedded microcontrollers
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to design and implement software for space-based applications, emphasizing mission-critical functionalities.
• Optimize software to improve system adaptability, performance, and security
• Participate in testing new and existing firmware
• Perform system bring-up, debug, and validation
• Ensure compliance with applicable standards (i.e., ECSS, MISRA, etc.)

• A Degree in computer science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related degree or equivalent experience
• 5+ years of proven experience in embedded software development
• Proven experience with Embedded Linux and Yocto
• Strong foundation in real-time operating systems
• Proficiency in C++ and Python is a plus
• Understanding of the software development life cycle, from requirements to testing, delivery and maintenance
• Familiarity with computer system architecture, microprocessors, and microcontroller fundamentals.
