Position Overview

Choice Digital is seeking a Senior Software Engineer who can take responsibility for designing, developing, and maintaining scalable backend software systems. You ll be joining a growing team of passionate Software Engineers who foster a culture of shared ownership, teamwork, and engineering excellence.

Responsibilities

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will help build the infrastructure that powers large-scale consumer disbursements. This includes systems responsible for:

Payment orchestration across multiple rails (ACH, prepaid cards, digital wallets, and checks)
Transaction lifecycle management, settlement, and reconciliation
Fraud detection and risk decisioning
Ledgering and financial record systems
High-reliability APIs used by enterprise clients to initiate and track payments

Our platform processes large volumes of financial transactions and requires systems that are secure, observable, and highly resilient.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Architecture & Execution

Design, build, and own various backends components of the Choice Digital platform
Collaborate with the engineering team to design and implement solutions using micro-service and service-oriented architectures
Enhance existing Dev Ops for best practices for continuous integration, testing, deployment, and scaling
Ensure implementation meets the highest quality and security standards

Strategic Planning & Governance

Work directly with Product Management and Engineering Management to plan and prioritize work
Own backend components, and establish and enforce standards for security and quality across the platform

Required

Qualifications and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent field, OR 5+ years of experience in software design and development
Basic knowledge of Google Cloud Platform or AWS and containerization/infrastructure-as-code tools (Docker, Terraform)
Thorough understanding of Object-Oriented Design and Development
Experience with software testing methodologies and strategies
Mastery of Python and an ability to learn new technologies quickly
