ASSISTANT COACHES

The Assistant Coach's goal is to help each student participating to achieve a high level of skill, to learn the appreciation of the values of discipline and sportsmanship, and to gain an increased level of self-esteem working side by side with the Head Coach.

QUALIFICATIONS

* CHSSA Certified.

* Preparation in coaching

* Demonstrated abilities in area assigned

* Sets and lives by an acceptable code of moral, ethical, and leadership standards.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Assistant Coach's responsibilities include:

* Assist with pre-season conditioning

* Attend rules meeting with Head Coach

* Meet with Head Coach before season starts to lay out a practice schedule.

* Help plan practices and help with supervision in the weight room.

* Carry out specific practice assignments

* Review video of games with Head Coach

* Help monitor and care for injuries with the trainer

* Coach teams during J.V. games and assist varsity coaches during games

* Help evaluate players

* Help with issuing equipment and uniforms.

* Attend clinics, if possible

* Help monitor academic progress of players

* Help secure facilities at the end of practices

* Make sure managers are carrying out duties

* Overseeing the safety conditions of the facility or area in which the sport is conducted, particularly when students are present.

* Adhering to the chain of command, which is the head coach, athletic director and the building principal of the particular coach.

* Submitting complete accident reports on all injuries, whether in practice or game, to the head coach/athletic director as soon after the accident as possible.

* Being knowledgeable of the Coaching Handbook.

REPORTS TO:

Head Coach/the Athletic Director and/or Building Principal

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Compensation and duration of duties to be established by the board. Performance in the position will be evaluated annually by the Head Coach/Athletic Director.
