Junior High Head Softball Coach
Qualifications- Ability to organize, implement, and supervise a comprehensive junior high softball program.
- Prior coaching experience in softball or a related sport preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge of softball fundamentals, rules, techniques, and strategies appropriate for the junior high level.
- Commitment to continuous professional growth and staying current with coaching best practices.
- Ability to serve as a positive role model and mentor for student-athletes through professional conduct, instruction, and leadership.

SupervisesMay supervise assistant coaches, volunteers, student managers, or support staff as assigned, in coordination with the Athletic Director and Principal.
Job GoalTo instruct student-athletes in fundamental softball skills, game strategy, teamwork, and physical conditioning while promoting sportsmanship, character development, self-discipline, confidence, and pride in accomplishment. The coach is responsible for creating a positive, inclusive, and safe environment that supports both athletic and academic success.

- Maintain knowledge of and comply with Fremont RE-2 School District Board of Education policies, CHSAA or league regulations, and school athletic procedures.
- Ensure consistent implementation of all applicable rules, eligibility requirements, and safety standards.
- Follow the established administrative chain of command for communication, requests, and concerns.
- Establish and teach fundamental softball skills, rules, and team philosophy appropriate for junior high athletes.
- Assist with training, guiding, and supporting assistant coaches or volunteers.
- Foster teamwork, discipline, positive morale, and respectful behavior among athletes and staff.
- Evaluate assistant coaches as required and provide feedback to the Athletic Director or Principal.
- Assist the Athletic Director with scheduling games, practices, transportation, and special events.
- Ensure practices and contests begin and end on time and that facilities are used appropriately.
- Coordinate with maintenance and school staff regarding field preparation and facility use.
- Maintain required documentation including physicals, eligibility forms, parental consent, and injury reports.
- Recommend improvements to policies, procedures, or program operations as appropriate.
- Serve as a mentor to student-athletes, promoting respect, responsibility, fairness, teamwork, and citizenship.
- Monitor student-athletes' academic progress and conduct, emphasizing the importance of classroom success.
- Supervise student-athletes at all practices, games, and during travel.
- Communicate team rules, expectations, and consequences clearly to athletes and parents.
- Implement injury prevention practices and follow district procedures for medical care and emergencies.
- Complete and submit all required injury and incident reports in a timely manner.
- Communicate with parents when disciplinary action or eligibility concerns arise.
- Assist with inventory, issuance, care, and return of uniforms and equipment.
- Ensure equipment is properly stored, maintained, and secured.
- Promote respect for school property, facilities, and equipment.
- Monitor locker rooms, fields, and practice areas for cleanliness and safety.
- Secure facilities when leaving if custodial staff are not present.
- Work within the approved athletic budget.
- Provide input on equipment needs and budget planning for future seasons.
- Assist with accountability for lost or damaged equipment when required.
- Conduct preseason meetings with parents and athletes.
- Maintain positive, professional relationships with parents, officials, staff, and the community.
- Promote the softball program within the school and community in an appropriate and approved manner.
- Coordinate with the Athletic Director regarding any communication with media or public outlets.
