Classified Salary Schedule – Bus Drivers
Summary: Bus drivers are responsible for transporting students to, from, and in-between schools and district-sponsored activity trips in a safe and timely manner.
Primary Responsibilities- Operates the assigned school bus in compliance with procedures outlined in the Weld Re-9 Driver Handbook and in accordance with federal and state laws
- Performs daily pre- and post-inspection routines on vehicles as needed
- Coordinates with supervisor to ensure all required route information is current and accurate
- Works within guidelines and with supervisor to maintain student discipline
- Completes paperwork related to driver duties and additional tasks as assigned, such as managing the small vehicle fleet
- Assists with fueling and cleaning any district vehicle as needed
- Available to drive on weekends, late nights, and possibly for overnight trips
- Reports all accidents and tickets related to driving, whether involving a school or personal vehicle
- Attends driver training and in-service meetings held by the district
- Any and all other duties as assigned
- 21 years of age
- Able to pass the Commercial Driver license physical exam and drug test
- Able to pass a criminal background check
- Acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (no more than two accidents or tickets in two consecutive years)
- In the event of an emergency bus evacuation, the employee may be required to assist in the removal of children from the rear of the vehicle requiring moving/lifting of over 100 lbs and making a drop of 42" from an exit door
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color and peripheral vision and night vision
Salary range is $ per hour for the school year and $ per hour for the school year depending on years of relevant experience. For part-time staff, the district provides a PERA retirement plan, long-term disability, an optional supplemental 401(k) plan, an employee assistance plan, and the ability to enroll in supplemental insurances and savings accounts through a third‑party vendor.
