Route Support Driver – Restaurant and Lodging Linen Service

Position Type: Full-time route support and backup driver

Pay Range: $20.00–$24.00 per hour

Schedule: Monday through Friday

We are seeking a dependable, customer-focused Route Support Driver to assist with both our restaurant and lodging routes. This position works alongside our primary route drivers to deliver clean restaurant linens, sheets, and towels; pick up used linens for cleaning; and help keep inventory, route, and customer information accurate. The Route Support Driver also provides reliable backup coverage during approved time off, schedule changes, and other planned staffing needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work as a second route team member supporting both the primary restaurant route driver and the primary lodging route driver.
  • Provide backup route coverage for restaurant or lodging routes during approved time off, schedule changes, or other planned staffing needs.
  • Coordinate delivery items, inventory quantities, and par levels with authorized restaurant and lodging representatives and the direct supervisor.
  • Deliver clean restaurant linens, sheets, and towels to customers accurately, on schedule, and in the proper quantities.
  • Use a mobile device and company systems to confirm delivery items, quantities, route order, and customer information.
  • Support lodging laundry service by delivering clean sheets and towels and collecting used bedding and towels from lodging clients as assigned.
  • Communicate customer changes, inventory needs, route updates, and par level adjustments promptly so production sheets and software records remain accurate.
  • Pick up used linens for cleaning when delivering clean inventory and unload them at the designated location.
  • Deliver statements or invoices and collect payments from customers when directed by management.
  • Unload, organize, and prepare the delivery truck at the end of each shift.
  • Load the truck for the next day using computer-generated production sheets.
  • Keep the depot location clean, organized, and ready for daily operations.
  • Report vehicle maintenance needs or safety concerns to the direct supervisor.
  • Provide polite, friendly, and professional service to customers and coworkers at all times.
Nature of the Work

The Route Support Driver assists with both restaurant and lodging routes, helping with loading, deliveries, pickup of used linens for cleaning, customer communication, and route accuracy. This person should learn both the restaurant linen route and the lodging sheet-and-towel route so they can provide dependable backup coverage when scheduling needs arise. Because customer requests and quantities may change, this role requires clear communication, attention to detail, and accurate use of company systems and mobile tools.

Working

Conditions

This position involves driving, loading, unloading, and working in warehouse or depot areas. The employee may be exposed to local weather conditions, non‑heated or non‑air‑conditioned work areas, vehicle fuel, cleaning solvents, and other routine workplace materials. Physical tasks include intermittent stooping, crouching, bending, lifting, lowering, reaching, twisting, pulling, pushing, carting, and carrying.

Qualifications and Requirements
  • Must have a valid U.S. driver’s license.
  • Must be able to speak English clearly with customers, coworkers, and supervisors.
  • Spanish language skills are a plus.
  • Ability to lift approximately 70 pounds and perform physical route delivery duties throughout the shift.
  • Strong customer service skills and a professional personal appearance.
  • Ability to use basic math to confirm quantities, inventory, and delivery information.
  • Dependable attendance and punctuality for assigned shifts.
  • Full range of motion and dexterity needed for loading, unloading, and delivery tasks.
  • Ability to understand and complete written, oral, or scheduled instructions.
  • Cooperative working style with coworkers, supervisors, and customers.
  • Patience, attention to detail, and a commitment to accurate service.
