Location: Ignacio

Ignacio School District Bus Driver

The bus driver is responsible for all duties associated with transporting students to and from school (~ 18 hrs./week) and on activity trips (varies). Full benefit package offered at 25 hrs/week)

Qualifications:

  • Must hold all required licenses and have all training as required by the Colorado Department of Transportation and CDE.
  • Must be 21 years of age with less than 8 points on MVR for past three years.
  • Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be able to perform all duties of the job and pass a fitness exam, a vision screening test, a hearing test and drug and alcohol screening.
  • Must pass the driving test, required written test, first aid courses, and CPR courses.
  • Must be capable of mature judgment on transportation policy and procedure matters that pertain to transportation.
  • Must be prompt and timely in performance of duties.
  • Ability to work in harmony with other people and have the ability to relate well with students.

Responsibilities:

  • Performing pre-post trip safety inspection daily.
  • Operating two-way radio.
  • Using defensive driving techniques while operating the bus.
  • Adhering to all speed limits and allow for weather conditions to establish safe speeds.
  • Maintaining cleanliness of bus interior and exterior. All lights must be clean of dirt.
  • Reporting route hazards, mechanical problems, and accidents on proper forms as required.
  • Establishing standard of orderliness for student conduct as required.
  • Reporting infractions, vandalism, and misconduct on proper forms as required.
  • Performing and establishing emergency exit/evacuation drills.
  • Developing, maintaining, and updating route map and ridership list as required.
  • Establishing pick up times for all students and maintaining the time schedule throughout the year (adjustments for weather or emergencies are allowable).
  • Being available for special trips throughout the year.
  • Maintaining all route and trip records as required.
  • Attending driver training programs and meetings as required and/or needed.
  • Following policies, procedures, and rules governing all areas of transportation department and personnel department.
  • Performing other duties related to transporting students as assigned.

Physical Requirements:

  • Demand for strength and endurance.
  • Lifting over 50 pounds on regular basis.

Reports To:

The Transportation Director

Terms of Employment:
The same as student attendance plus annual required in-service/workshop time.
